I'm subject to drug tests. I don't care. I don't really care if we drug test welfare recipients or not. I don't consider it a gross violation of privacy.

Drugs cost money. A way to ensure tax dollars aren't being used to subsidize harmful addictions. I have mixed feelings on the topic, but the sense is pretty clear.

You can't embellish the number of days he was on the raft. There's lots of corroboration for his POW experience. Pretty sure he'd kick their ass even at this stage of his life for suggesting it's more fiction than fact.

The Soviet Union and China understood the principle of M.A.D. Does Iran? They may be able to destroy Israel, but not the U.S. Does Ahmadinejad care? Iran with nukes causes more problems than the direct threat of a direct attack from Iran on Israel or other U.S. interests. It poses the real danger of nukes in the hands of jihadists. I am not advocating war. This country cannot afford (fiscally, emotionally, militarily) another war. But, damn, this sure is a pickle. It'll sure be a mess if Israel takes this on their own, but it may be the best option.

A LOT of the bands already mentioned would be ones that I've grown more fond of. The Smiths are one of the few that I think I actively disliked and like (thought not love) now. Springsteen and GnR in particular. I'm not a Deadhead, but I really like listening to them and I used to dislike them quite a bit.

He pays income tax. Capital gains is income, just taxed differently from salary or wages or whatever the hell they call what most of us make. This is not even the idea of the moment let alone the century. It's why people have been shouting to see his returns for months.
