  1. yeah thats a 3 pickup Jerry Jones shorthorn.
  2. I liked it. I wish there were more Prince songs. I thought the Foo Fighters cover and the versions of proud mary and watchtower were kind of a joke aimed at the superbowl audience. ...a funny one too
  3. Cool! And then Brad Pitt as Jeff Buckley! I know I sure loved Matt Dillon as Charles Bukowski. ...what happened to actually doing something interesting instead of dressing up like someone else who did?
  4. Listen to the new Mike Watt podcast!!! Great gear interview with Nels Cline. Watt forces Nels to go through every guitar he's ever owned.
  5. I like To Record Water and Niandra Ladies but I can't stand Shadows Collide with people. It's the only CD I've bought that I've ever sold.
  6. Fun is the only major label release. Its a good quality recording in a real studio with Paul Leary producing and playing most of the instruments Daniel doesn't play.
  7. I would love to have all the YHF studio footage from IATTBYH. Even when you look on the artwork and see the scene descriptions sam jones had written up they look prettty interesting.
  8. I like almost everything plexi film has done. They did IATTBYH for example. Also the Moog doc was a particulary good one by them.
  9. Fun Love Wheel is worth it alone.
  10. New books for holidays Dosteovsky - The Idiot and Notes From The Underground F. Scott Fitzgerald - The Crack-up Bukowski - Love Is A Dog From Hell
  11. I think rock n roll is really just sort of an exception. Country, folk, blues, soul artists always played/recorded other peoples songs and jazz musicians are still getting mileage out of the same real book standards.
  12. Not very good musicians? Aren't we talking about...Rock & Roll?
  13. I read a magazine called DIW the other day that was absolutely hilarious and had great articles too. I'm going to check out their next issue and if its as good I'll probably subscribe to that.
  14. I'd like to see Wilco play some stuff from Forever Changes. Or maybe Odyssey and Oracle.
  15. Sound-wise the thing I like about vinyl is that you can hear the instruments more realistically. The "space" that you're hearing sounds much more like a room with musicians playing in it than a bunch of tracks of recorded music just playing at the same time.
  16. I heard some songs by them a year or so ago and didn't hear anything really special but recently they played a free show that was really interesting. They have a really cool sound thats almost like a MBV/bad Brains/Flaming Lips hybrid (from what I heard at the show). I'll definitely check this album out though...
  17. Dude?! Dude?! :-) Famous Blue Raincoat - Leonard Cohen? also Sideshow by The Seashore - Luna If You See Her Say Hello - Jeff Buckley (from the Sin-e Reissue) Autumn Sweater - Yo La Tengo (typical "sad mixtape" song) Pot Kettle Black really gets to me too
  18. Screamin Jay Hawkins - Alligator Wine
  19. What's that psychedelic painted pedal?
  20. The problem with these covers is that they don't add anything. Covers can be good if they're done as an interpretation instead of a half-assed tribute. Chris Whitley's album Perfect Day is pretty much a perfect example of this. Some of the best Dylan covers I've ever heard are on that album.
  21. Bukowski - Post Office Andre Breton - Nadja
