hasting's already had a display with a list of prior U2 albums - if you trade in two on the list you get Horizon free.
-
that's true. they made it a bit too tight.

I don't guess I'd ever seen someone have a clear slipcase with artwork printed on the front. Very cool CD package.
-
the CD artwork is really cool. i bought it on lunch and haven't even unwrapped it yet.

does the bass player do that thing where he plays eighth notes throughout the song of the root note of the chords?
-
Did they mention the possibility of a signed item?
-
I feel this way too. When a new Beck CD comes out, even if he isn't deviating from some prior type of music he's already done, it's still above most dreck you hear (or insert another artist that was quite acclaimed sometime if Beck is not for you). I'm streaming Hold Time on NPR - the full stream is still up - and man, I really dig it. If you took away Matt's voice at times, sonically it reminds me of Summer Teeth and Sea Change; i.e., acoustic guitars combined with synth strings/mellotron sounds, etc. What's the story on the signed vinyl - who did you buy it through?
-
did they change the song link already? that's just Boots.
-
i like that STP album.

The latest Ryan Adams thread
bigideas replied to Duck-Billed Catechist's topic in Someone Else's Song
i finally saw the Fix It on piano - is there really not a complete take available? that's retarded. -
Yeah, I respect someone a little more just for actually writing their songs instead of just being a voice or hired gun. Taylor Swift writes most of her stuff I believe. Both of these artists on the award shows - I think they've both been on every one - both seem to be actually singing live but not playing their instruments for the most part.
-
That's interesting. I don't think I cared for it much when it first came out, but years down the line I came to like No Code the best and feel it's the best 'album' of their's. I never got the last one or Binaural. The one in between was hit and miss for me.

comparing The Jonal Bros and Buddy Holly.........I just threw up a little in my mouth. =)
-
I love Ballad of a Thin Man. What do you not like about it? I've never heard Crawl though.
-
do they play instruments live?
-
Were you ingesting any substances while this was on? They've been on every awards show and it always looks like they're not actually playing their instruments. They're constant shouting of "yeah's" and whatever was really annoying. One time it sounded like Stevie was kinda mocking the way one of them sang.

For Regulators? I think that is actually a good album. I don't listen to much rap, but I really liked the G Funk sound around the time The Chronic, Snoop's Doggystyle, and Warren G's first record came out.
-
ahhh. I think this was the first year in a while for The Flaming Lips to not win an instrumental rock Grammy. I'm surprised they didn't promote the Christmas on Mars soundtrack.
-
i had yet to hear the single, but i thought it sounded promising on the Grammys.
-
I didn't think In Rainbows came out until after that - I know House of Cards wasn't a single until last year - and the official physical release was in real early 2008. I can't remember when they did the free download though. I remember U2's album before last got several awards two years in a row - that always seemed weird to me to be eligible two different years.
-
yeah, i feel the same way : "he's a what, he's a what, he's a newspaper man..." I think this song is more the style of their previous albums (from reviews I read) and I could never get into what I heard from them.

My friend's music. I'm quoting a post of his on another board: Hello to my friends at Via Chicago. I released my first full-length album on Friday. My influences include The Beatles, Jack White, Beck, Radiohead, and Elliott Smith to name a few. I have three tracks you can stream here: www.myspace.com/wesleyscottmusic You may recognize one of them from crackerjunkie's Atease compilation. Or I have a digstation profile where you can stream 30 second samples of all of the tracks (or purchase if you like). It is here: www.digstation.com/wesscott Feel free to have a listen and tell m

sounds like you took it wrong. that's your choice. people that mean it in a rude way usually put some picture or something. i was merely stating fact and pointing you to where a few of us had already talked about it. here is a compilation of artist statements from Paste: http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2009...uddy-holly.html

yes, that is why i brought back the thread. read the last page. re: Lubbock - I live in Texas, so that would be a lot more feasible - still too far though. I wasn't aware of the big concert, so yes, that would definitely be a lot better in dreamworld.

http://www.ci.lubbock.tx.us/newsPage.aspx?ID=2530 Texas Monthly had several articles on Holly and one talks about the center they have there with a huge pair of glasses like his outside and inside the real glasses (it said a group in Lubbock paid his widow $80,000 for them) and other artifacts like guitars, etc.
