  1. That's a really weird #1, not that Radio Cure isn't a great tune I just think I might have put it at #10, and that's even pushing it. I would have thought Jesus Etc. would be in there along with She's A Jar or Pieholden like you said, good list though, everything outside of Far Far Away and Radio Cure I'd agree with. I think One Sunday Morning is a lock for a top 10 Wilco song, maybe Art Of Almost as well but we'll give it time.
  2. Also I don't think anyone has really made the comparison between Open Mind and Country Disappeared yet. Both 6/8 tunes with really good lyrics but suffer from a really interesting arrangement like Black Moon or Rising Red Lung. Standing O, for me anyways, sort feels a lot like Sonny Feeling in a lot of ways as well, just a lot better.
  3. I believe in one of the recent Jeff interviews he said that One Sunday Morning is an actual true story where he went for supper with the author Jane Smiley and her boyfriend and he told Jeff the story and then Jeff ended up writing a song about it. I just think it is seriously incredible, maybe top 5 Wilco songs for me and I'll probably even go out on a limb and say best one of the best Jeff has written since Jesus Etc., I am just floored by it. Also I hope to god they play it live I don't care if they have to cut two songs from the set for it, it'll be totally worth it. Edit: Here's Je
  4. I wanted to compliment the fantastic piano playing on One Sunday Morning but most of the keyboard/piano lines throughout the record I have no clue if they're Mikael or Pat!
  5. How would you rate that cup of coffee upon first taste? I'm just bugging you man but I just think I (and others) would appreciate a far more fleshed opinion than "utter twee shit". And if you want my opinion upon my first four listens I would say that its really good and probably has the potential to move in the top tier of Wilco albums (along with YHF, AGIB, ST and BT). I think Open Mind does work better as a solo song, great lyrics but the band arrangement doesn't do much for me, and waltzes in general probably generate "yawning" responses. Standing O I feel will move into Walken terri
  6. Being able to call a song "Utter twee shit" after one listen sounds a lot like a generalization to me. And yeah judging an album after one listen is a tough thing to do so that's why it's probably best not to go and sum up an entire track with five words. I hate the Tweedy apologists as much as the next person on here, but what I hate more is the people who come to (or stay on) the board just for the sake of bashing. A really nice cup of coffee probably would have helped your first listen, a whole lot less "yawns" and "blahs" I think.
  7. Judging from that break down "McGuffin" you should just give the album a big overall score of MEH. That interview with Tweedy was so bang on.
  8. I'm not sure if this was posted before but here's one of the dudes from Uncut's semi-review. http://www.uncut.co.uk/blog/index.php?blog=6&p=1722&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 Really weird that he's had the album for over a month!
  9. Yeah if people are still having troubles with the stream I have a rip of it, it's 128kbps, same quality as what it's streaming at, good enough to tie us over, PM me if you want it.
  10. Certainly not in terms of backstory or anything but in terms of sounds, songs, and overall feel it's a lot like Abbey Road to me. Sort of in the same way that AGIB has been compared to the White Album a lot in terms of sounds etc.
  11. Upon first listen I'll take a stab and say One Sunday Morning is easily the best closer on any of their records. Also there is a huge Nick Drake influence over a lot of the songs I think, especially Rising Red Lung and OSM.
  12. I think the one thing that has gotten better and better with each record since AGIB is John's bass playing, absolutely killer here. Also, some reviews were saying how weird the pacing and track order was on the record but I absolutely love it, works really really well IMO.
  13. Hey guys we just broke Via Chicago!
  14. On Born Alone now and it's a BANGER, I absolutely love the production on this one, great great sounds/choices in sounds (guitars and drums specifically).
  15. Black Moon is really one of the prettiest things they've ever done IMO.
  16. Man Art Of Almost is ridiculous jesus H.
  17. I check Onethirtybpm pretty regularly, it's pretty good.

    Almost

Hey "Ashtray Jr." guess what? Jules doesn't have it.

Weird all the track lengths on Wikipedia are different as well. It would be a shame for Born Alone to be that short though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Whole_Love
