  1. Yeah. Sky Blue Sky grabs me by the face everytime I make it down to track four, but YAMF and Hate it Here jump as well. The entire album is awesome...I can't get behind Shake it Off and What Light though. Eventually, I might be able to but... yeah. Maybe it's a Canadian thing.
  2. Jeff sounds so incredibly bored and unhappy to be reading off whatever sheet he was at the time of that recording.

  4. No kidding-- being paraded about like that doesn't exactly set the tone for the most relaxed conversations. "Okay guys! As part of this backstage deal, here's The Singer of That Band! Shake his hand quickly!" The last thing I'd do were I in that situation would be to ask questions about the music or the album that you'd get asked every night. Granted, the "Nice weather huh?" smalltalk I'd churn out'd probably be even worse, but eh. Whatever.
  5. Oohhhhhh. Now I understand this thread. I'm a bit daft.
  6. I'm torn, because I want this song so badly, yet hate iTunes. If there was some way I could buy it from some other source, I'd do it.
  7. On second thought, I'd steal his wallet.
  8. Nels is very self concious of the way his trem arm swings.
  9. If I was in the room, I would have asked Jeff what UT album it was going to sound like, or if they considered Billy Bragg joining the band.
  10. It may have a lot to do with the quality and specific performances of that night... I mean, I sincerly doubt that it's about intellectual property rights, and more so about the fact that if the band doesn't outrightly allow video, they have slightly more control over what gets out there, like the quality of image and audio, not to mention their impression of their performance. I for one could never be happy with a song every single time I play it, and having at least a fraction more control over how you're represented (ie, what gets recorded and distributed) could mean a lot. Plus, photos ar
  11. Thanks so much everyone, I really appreciate the responses. Yeah, I was at Massey two nights ago for Arcade Fire and tonight for Damien Rice (shh, it's a birthday present.) I loved the place, and I figured there might not be a problem with camera stomping, I just have a fairly large SLR that'd I'd really enjoy not having destroyed. I'm pretty well aquainted with the no-flash law anyway, I'm of the personal belief that if you use a flash for anything other than dark bar pictures, you pretty much ruin the photos anyway. Man, I'm so, so excited.
  12. Jeff Tweedy is on our internetz, hacking up in our forumz?
  13. Hey guys, Sorry to bother you with something so piddly, I just had a question or two about your experiences with the band live. First, and least importantly, should I be worried that I haven't recieved my tickets in the mail yet? I know this is a bit silly, but I've literally got the best seats in the house for Massey Hall, and I don't want to risk anything. Along those lines, in your experience, in seated venues, do people remain seated, or is there a mad dash for the stage? I'm all for jumping up, but considering I'm front-row center (stomp city), I was considering bringing my camera, bu
  14. Every petition I've written to a band demanding they reinstate an ex-member has been amazingly successful.
  15. I suppose that's fair. I don't really want anyone to be pandered too, I just always love those "cram it in your cram hole" moments where people bash an artist for 'going soft' or 'losing relevance' or something when all they've done is shift styles, and then a year later, come back and blow everyone's minds and make them look like fools for having pronounced them dead in the first place.
  16. Pretty much exactly what I expected. For the most part, I really like Rob Mitchum's work on that site, but in this case it seems like he didn't give it the chance to grow on him. It's fair, when you're writing these things for a living, you've only got so much time to devote to each one. I hope the next album is straight up noise rock, just to show the nay-sayers who think they have the band pegged.
  17. I'd imagine at this point, he's so sick and tired of interviewers asking the same questions, he's got a script down pat for how to respond to them. Abba is the answer to question six.
  18. Yeah, I've seen only one or two other slightly negitive ones, the main complaint being "well, this is still brilliant, but it's only semi-brilliant compared to their other stuff." For every bad review, I see six or seven good ones, so in terms of press I don't think this'll be as brutal as most of us seem to think it may be. Hell, SBS doesn't even have a drone.
  19. I just like how no one can get through a review without mentioning painkillers or krautrock. Looks like someone learned how to work the Google.
  20. That reminds me of a friend's little sister, trying desperately to find stuff about his record collection she can make fun of, just so she can try and seem grown up and mature. Negitive criticism is perfectly acceptable, but not when you reduce it to a series of un-funny observations and direct references to the lyrics-- one thing I can't stand is when critics of anything, be it film, music, tv, or whatever, attempt to take lines, taglines or any other component of the work and respond directly to it, like answering a question or participating in a conversation. This reads like her edito
