*Song Request* for New Haven ... please?
a_quiet_domino replied to sweetheart-mine's topic in Just A Fan
I've been screaming "Candyfloss!!" at every show I've been to for the last few years, to no avail. Let's hope you have better luck getting your request played. -

Bach annoys me. With him, it used to be about the music. Now, it's all about his fixer-upper in the Hamptons. -

I don't deny that SBS shows that the band is a great bunch of musicians playing really well together, with intricate, complex lyrics that reward multiple listens. But if that's what I wanted, I would just listen to Steely Dan. -

I don't count the MA albums as real Wilco albums either. -

Can I join the group formerly known as the support group? My feelings for SBS went from lukewarm to non-existent. I listen to A.M. all the time now. Also, have they played a new song in the past 18 months? I don't mean to say that they constantly need to break out new stuff, but I'm ready to hear what direction they are going in next (because SBS seemed more like a retrenchment). Wasn't there a rumor on this board that they had a whole album of post-SBS material in the can? Let's hear it! -
Don't wear your nice shoes when you go out in New Orleans. The place is underwater, and you don't want to know what gets spilled/discharged onto the floors of the bars in that town.

I will be at the 930 Club. I'll be the jackass up on the balcony screaming "CANDYFLOSS!!!" You will prolly run into a few at the show.

I sucked it up and bought a ticket from Stubhub. Prices there seem the best.

The version of "Pick Up the Change" from the 930 Club, Sept 26 2001 is one of my favorite live tracks of all time. Jeff's harmonica solo is great. Sorry I'm not geeky enough/tech savvy enough to post a link to the song--the show is widely available, and I am sure someone else can post it.

It's really important for me to get tickets to both night's shows. So when the presale drops, I would appreciate it if you could all hang back until I purchase mine. Thx. -Domino

Perfectly poised for another show at the 930 Club.

Forgive me if this has been posted in another thread, but is there any speculation as to what the band in doing during the touring hiatus (new recording, solo projects, etc)?

When you wake up feeling old, can you be where you want to be?

If you look on any discussion board right now, this article is being lambasted. Mainstream news (like Slate) have also taken SFJ to task for this. Anytime I read anything by this author in the New Yorker, I get the impression that no one at the New Yorker knows anything about contemporary music, but they desperately want to seem like they are hip. Tragic.

You know that guy in the center of the Orleans cover? He's now in the U.S. House of Representatives. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hall_(New_York) Also, I think the description that most often accompanies this album cover is "pre-gay consciousness."

Why not a more fulsome version of "Wishful Thinking": Fill up your mind with all it can know Don't forget that your body will let it all go Fill up your mind with all it can know What would we be without wishful thinking? For a totally off topic answer to this question, check out http://proxy.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?...=simmons/021011.

I'm embarrassed to say I, like every other dude who smoked too much pot in high school, used the old saw from "Scarlet Begonias": Well, I ain't always right but I've never been wrong. It seldom turns out the way it does in a song. Once in a while you get shown the light In the strangest of places if you look at it right.

Wilco isn't the American Radiohead, Radiohead is the British Wilco

So when Glenn's deal with the devil runs out, will he turn back into Ken Coomer?

I recommend Miller's, right on the downtown mall, about four blocks away from the Pavilion. I'll be the guy with the "Pat Sansone is God" t-shirt on.
