  1. on a similar note, my brother-in-law looks exactly like pat but with shorter (still shaggy) hair. he's an insurance claims adjuster
  2. a new song, dream of the eternal life, from the upcoming crazy rain EP is up on joe's myspace. it gets off to an interesting start. i'm still listening to it for the first time, not sure what i think of it yet.
  3. no, the line to get into the venue is separate from the restaurant. i've been to a venue in seattle that gives priority to the people in the attached restaurant but i've never seen them do it at stubb's. stubb's allows cameras as long as the bands do. post show i will probably get a slice of pizza and head to side bar on 7th to finish off the night. they let you bring food in, i love it!
  4. yeah but he sure can flop. ugh i hate him. i sort of wanted him to pull an adam morrison and roll around on the court crying after the game. i guess if he was a senior he probably would have. i moved up to the top of the pool that i'm in last night because all of my friends had kansas losing. i knew they could do it!
  5. it's not bad bbq though, and it's easy since it's sold at the venue. i've only eaten at romeo's once but it was the most disgusting meal i've ever had. very disappointing. the best pizza in town is just a couple blocks away from stubb's (for after the show since they're not usually open during the day). it's on 7th street next to red 7. hoek's. DELICIOUS! it used to be on 6th next to the ritz but when the drafthouse bought out the ritz, they closed the pizza window. they just re-opened on 7th right before sxsw and i couldn't be more excited!!
  6. music today doesn't ship when you order, they ship within a certain time period before the show. in my experience, i think it's always been 2 weeks.
  7. that sucks! they play that one quite a bit too. other than that, what did you think of the show?
  8. the bends is hands down my favorite radiohead album. genius.
  9. i hear that his gallery shows aren't very much fun. the place is just full of pretentious people that don't dance or do anything during the show. they just stand there and stare at each other. i still haven't be able to get into "could we surive" for some reason. i like it, but nothing stands out as being particularly amazing to me. i definitely like that he's working mostly solo on these. i mean, i love the lonely astronauts but sometimes it's all a bit too much for me. although, i do love seeing him live with the band...there's so much energy! they're an extremely talented group of musici
  10. unfortunately the great little mexican food place across the street from stubb's is closed on sundays and closes at 2:00 on mondays. total bummer because they have huge pitchers of patron margaritas for like $28. it's the perfect place for pre-show drinks. yeah, that's pretty much exactly how the houston show was.
  11. i concur! i believe i've read quotes from jeff (and a couple of other artists) about how they're happy when their music evokes any emotion, good or bad, because they've gotten a reaction out of people. so yeah, i don't think he would take offense to this. and i don't think anyone has made a malicious comment in this thread like, "omg jeff tweedy is the worst song-writer ever. i hate all his lyrics!" it's all been basic, "well, this particular line just isn't for me."

  13. i might be the only person that feels this way but i can't stand hearing jeff yell "nothing" 30+ times at live shows. it kills me.
  14. do they start at 8:00 or is that when doors open? i've been to plenty of shows that started after 8:00 that had opening acts, especially on weekends. i think the show i went to in houston a few weeks ago started at 8:00, john doe opened.
  15. it's a great little outdoor amphitheater type place. it's not "little" i guess, it probably holds around 1500 people. the stage is at the bottom of a slope so you can see from almost any spot in the crowd. the drinks are usually pretty strong, the bbq is delish, and since these shows are in may it shouldn't be too unbearably hot. some of the best shows i've ever seen have been at stubb's.
  16. kansas has only won 2 championships...that's not very many.
  17. i'm a-rod though i picked catcher!
  18. i used to listen to mermain avenue with my dad and uncle A LOT when it first came out. even though i'm a bigger fan of wilco, i can't imagine the whole experience without the billy bragg stuff.
  19. ahhh yes, that's when i began to fall in love with john corbett.
  20. i just can't get enough of this one.
  21. lonesome crowded west is one of my faves for roadtrips! i can't believe i forgot it!
  22. i blame that 100% of the ridiculous heat. i was dying during their set so i can only imagine how uncomfortable they were. i think they're much better headlining their own shows than at large-scale festivals.
  23. so according to the email, the 3rd st. louis show is happening. how fun for you guys!!
