Since the VP doesn't do much (unless he or she takes control of other executive branch duties or non-duties like Cheney did...) she shouldn't have too much to learn. As long as she has a nice budget to shop with (I know this is sexist...) she should be okay. I have never read Kathleen Parker much, but now her column's at least seem to give some real conservative perspective on the McCain Palin mess....she even seems to be channeling John Lewis' opinions (in a much more reserved way) about the unleashing of racism by the McCain campaign. I know....things seem squirelly in alot of states. I dragged my kid home from college because he didn't get an absentee ballot in time (Rosie did...). Every single vote is going to be needed to offset all irregularities.....sick really. LouieB

Yea, leave the heavy lifting to me... It is sad but true; it is tacky to bring this up. For my generation John McCain was not really a war hero, at least to those of my generation who were opposed to the war. He has become one since the actual 5 years in captivity is certainly some sort of badge of honor, but the carpet bombing of North Vietnam was the heaviest of its kind until Shock and Awe....more bombs than were dropped in WWII. Jeff has already told us (indirectly...) who to vote for for president. As far as Billy is concerned, both have written great songs and there is no reason for us to hate him, unless you want to, in which case...frankly I don't care....I enjoy a Billy record from time to time.... LouieB

Actually the one and only time I talked to Billy we did talk briefly about Jeff and his family. I do think he has a soft spot in his heart for his work with Wilco, not withstanding the other issues that are obviously there. Other than that I totally agree with you. MA helped raise Wilco's profile immensely. People who barely know about Wilco know about MA and like at least the first album. It will always be a major part of their career despite the problems it created. (If Wilco never sings California Stars again it is fine with me....) LouieB
