  2. This is very cool. I think I talked to people about this a week or so ago. Back to the Auditorium and then nothing for a few months. Andrew Bird will be cool too..... LouieB
  3. Here in Chicago, John Mayer appears to be running for office, with cardboard signs with metal frames being stuck on street corners. I don't know how many albums that sells, but hey, I am ready to write his name in for governor or mayor or whatever. LouieB
  4. Yes it is..in fact it gave Lorretta a new new audience at a time when even classic country music wasn't appreciated. Sissy Spasik does a fantastic job. LouieB
  5. Yea, me too..I like the super oldies.... Oh GOB iron..now i get it (I think...or do I???..) LouieB
  6. That's what I am hoping for too. This was a really fun show. I rarely listen to shows, but this one I would like, with the keyboard of course, since the guy was working it and his efforts for those fans in front were lost. Either way, good times all around. The place was just over half full I would guess, with far fewer in the balcony. LouieB
  7. I commented that the Vic is NOT a small venue. I don't know what we are talking about any more.LouieB
  8. Ya never know..this could be some interesting stuff. (a la David Johansen....) LouieB
  9. LouieB Not really. MA were lyrics that had not been really turned into songs or at least not publicly. Therefore they WERE something new. Oh and Steven Foster....not folk songs.....Foster was one of the first and most famous composers of American popular songs. LouieB
  10. Can you post a picture of what we are talking about here? Harp can be a harmonica or that huge thing that Joanna Newsome and Harpo Marx play or something slightly smaller that is used in Celtic music.... LouieB Yea, not really all that new, just something most do when they run out of new ideas (see Rod Stewart and Bruce Springsteen...) LouieB
  11. "Folk Process"??? Sounds like they just really don't have anything new to do, so they are making a recording of a bunch of old songs and trying to make it sound sexy. LouieB
  12. Somehow I don't think you need to insult both Randy Newman and James Taylor....... You are welcome to have your way with Jessica however. LouieB
  13. From the Trib today.... LouieB Kotche, Cline improv for grins September 22, 2006 In the world of improvisation created by drummer Glenn Kotche and guitarist Nels Cline, most anything's fair game--even facial hair. When the virtuosos moonlighted from their regular Wilco gig a few weeks ago to play a set of largely improvised music in Milwaukee, Kotche was sporting a three-week old mustache. By the time it was done, the percussionist's face was again clean shaven. "I took me three weeks to grow it while I was on tour," Kotche says. Shaving it during the show "was a just a way of
  14. What's to argue about, we all know Wilco is the greatest band of all time.... LouieB
  15. Worth having/good album...I am sure by this time there are used copies around. LouieB
  16. One of the greats..no doubt. LouieB
  17. The bass was just fine and the Vic is not a small venue. The sound was great on every instrument and all vocals, but the keyboards and the horns (admittedly all three horns were playing to one microphone. ) LouieB
  18. John got some major screen time on CSI last night, playing the sexy music.... LouieB
  19. From the Trib today... LouieB Golden Smog floats on its laidback vibe By Joshua Klein Special to the Tribune September 21, 2006 When Golden Smog got around to releasing its first album about 10 years ago, the band was only nominally a supergroup, and a fluke side-project of a supergroup at that. Though featuring members of Soul Asylum, the Jayhawks and Wilco, only the first of the bunch had hit it big. Things have changed a little with the third album, "Another Fine Day." Soul Asylum's popularity has waned, but Wilco finally hit the big time. The ever-promising Jayhawks have disb
  20. Have fun guys.....one show in a row on a weeknight is all I can handle with a day job.... LouieB
  21. Yea....this is true....for multiple reasons... Also these albums had four sides so you could break up listening to it pretty easily. LouieB
