  1. That does look good. I'm going to have to check it out.
  2. Wilco is the independently owned, fair trade friendly, whole grain, 100% organic, zero emissions, traveling music buffet, maybe?
  3. http://www.sendspace.com/file/qst3ty It's not the whole song...he just kind of spits a bit of it out in a slam poetry fashion. ...and I'm with you on the Wal-Mart comparison. I see that you mean that they're a one-stop shop. Mellow tunes, hand clappers, foot tappers, and rock out tunes, etc. all available in the Wilco catalog.
  4. Have you heard the "b" word thing I mentioned? It's gnarly.
  5. There is that live rap version of "She's a Jar" in which Jeff says the "b" word.
  6. Nashville Skyline It never gets old for me. It's one of my favorite albums altogether, not just my favorite Dylan.
  7. Will Oldham: Your head is huge and strange. (But I actually think it's an awesome head...) Eef Barzelay: Enough with the rhyming couplets, already. Wilco: You guys don't do nearly enough shirtless photo shoots. Stephen Malkmus: ....couldn't come up with anything bad...he's too much teh awesome. Looks like I suck at dissing. I'm not even going to try to have a go at Andrew Bird or any of my other rock star boyfriends. I'm a Miss Nicey Pants.
  8. There is a band with Joe Jack Talcum (of Dead Milkmen fame) in it called "The Low Budgets."
  9. Growing your own veggies is a good start, if you eat veggies. Living somewhere that you can raise your own chickens is really cool too. I can't do the chickens here but eventually I want to move out into the woods where I can farm it up all I want. A more practical way to cut costs is to shop at the "bent and dent" stores. You've just got to know what to look for. The dates aren't always bad on the stuff and some kinds of dented cans are A-okay safe. These places are really good spots to get natural foods, gourmet sauces, olive oils and the like, and "ethnic" stuff too.
  10. I graduated in 2001 and I was paddled in high school. It wasn't really much of a deterrent to bad behavior (talking in class). It was mostly just funny and awkward.
  11. Oh man, those 3rd encores are so beautifully old school! I'm jealous. A Forest live! The Cure is one of a very small number of bands that have stood the test of time for me and carried over from my youth into adulthood nicely. Just thinking about it makes me all giddy. I looooooooove it! Question: What are the audiences like for Cure shows now? Is it mostly fans from the wayback or are there teenagers and stuff there too? Edit: I'm just noticing it goes from Play for Today into A Forest. I bet that's a sweet transition.
  12. This is definitely one of my favorite Pavement clips on youtube. I can't stop watching it. It's friggin' goooood.
  13. I googled it. That's a really big bone.
  14. Don't wait for the DVD...the whole thing hinges on all those candy-colored psyched out visuals. It won't be the same at home unless you've got some killer home theater thing going on. The only swearing incident that shocked me was when Speed said, "Get that shit off my track!" at one point. It was pretty blatant and just seemed pretty unnecessary for a kiddie movie, which this no doubt is. There was another scene in which a race commentator is bleeped. It would have been awesome if the Wachowskis had actually set out to make this a flick for nostalgic grown up Speed Racer fans but it really
  15. "I'm there right now...call me."
  16. Knock Need Tonsure Magic Answering 8 Ball (Fans will just call you 8 Ball for short) Lazy Eyes and Fireflies (Oooh, I like that! I'm keeping it for me.)
  17. My three year old girl loves it too. We really push the whole "I am not a gun." concept in our house. She also managed to get hooked on Ninja Turtles some time back (the old Turtles movie and series, not the newer tv show). With that one, she knows that, as Master Splinter says, "A true Ninja only fights as a last resort."
  18. Had a little Mother-Daughter date with my kiddo. We've been excited about Speed Racer together for a while now. I was a bit let down. I think I just expected too much. It was still fun, racing scenes were exciting enough and crazy colorful. The best part was waiting until everyone else had left the auditorium so we could dance in the aisle to "Go, Speed Racer, gooooooo!"
  19. He's got a little cameo in the movie too.
