Think of it as a Japanese take on Harold Budd's and Brian Eno's albums together, but instead of creating environments, it's more about emotions, I feel. I never knew laptop music could sound so friggin' good.

The specific one you linked to is booked solid but there's others available... Cheers!

Right, this is all very last-minute, and I know I barely post here... but I'm going to be seeing Arcade Fire at the Chicago Theater on May 19th.. which as we all know, is not very far away at all... I've never done this before, and I'm also a bit poor. Since this is all on the fly, I was thinking of staying at a hostel. Does anyone know of one near the theater and the rest of downtown? I was also thinking of trying to see if it was possible to be there on the 17th, to see Animal Collective and Sir Richard Bishop. Does this sound feasible to you guys, on a small budget (read: barely $300)?

Fennesz & Sakamoto - Cendre. LUSH.

I feel exactly the same! Totally lame movie that I now hate with a passion...

yet another place I've never been to, but always heard stories about and wanted to see, and now I never will.

Dude, "Reuniting All Over Your Cheerios"... Think for a second.

Seriously, when I need something fun on, I throw on a Beastie Boys album... I also really love Hello Nasty... Paul's Boutique sounds too dated me for me. *puts up riot shield*

Oh man, can't wait to read about Song Cycle. In the meantime, I'd really love to read one about 36 Chambers, that'd be awesome.

wacky. I click on the links and all I get is that pop-up window, I don't understand how you guys are downloading it.

Never actually listened to a Nick Cave album, and then I see these guys on the cover of Wire. I'm obviously missing out on something...

Icky Thump - New White Stripes album
Ludwig Von Drake replied to Welsh Rich's topic in Someone Else's Song
Did you try watching Under Blackpool Lights? cos that DVD is terrible - and I love the White Stripes. When I saw them live in Cleveland at the Allen Theater, they knocked my fucking socks off. -
Neko Case N. American Tour Dates

I just "discovered" Fox Confessor Bring the Flood. I'm so going to the Cleveland show. -
My beef with this lies with the fact that you have state-funded universities doing stuff for a non-state commercial company.

I started with Standards, but couldn't get into it oddly enough. Still, I looked into my library to see what was available, and I was able to get into Millions Now Living Will Never Die very easily. My personal favorite is their latest album, It's All Around You. The box set is another good buy, being very cheap and having a lot of material that gives you a great idea on what Tortoise is all about.

Perhaps it's because I'm not a musician, but with the exception of Jack White's playing (in the White Stripes), everything on here bores me to tears these days.

The only real ad to get under my skin for its jingle/choice in music, was Devo re-doing "Whip it" for those Swiffer commercials. Fuck that was annoying. I couldn't really understand the Mothersbaugh brothers doing it - aren't they getting enough money from doing soundtracks for Wes Andersen, Disney AND Nickelodeon? I guess not.

Happy Birthday Peter Gabriel!
Ludwig Von Drake replied to mountain bed's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
All this reminds me that I need to pick up that vinyl of Robert Fripp's "Exposure" from this crappy new age-kitsch shop here in my suburb, if anything, for that different version of "Here Comes the Flood." Gabriel eerily reminds me of someone from my school's jazz program here. Crazy. -
Hearing this new album makes me wish I saw them in Cleveland when they did the first reunion tour. Being a fool, I passed them by completely. To be fair though, I didn't own any of the reissues at the time, nor did I have any real clue as to how they were live.

I don't think there ever was a time I watched the Grammys... Or maybe there was - I remember seeing Billy Joel stop in the middle of his thing because they cut off old Blue Eyes, but I don't remember if that was because I saw a clip of it or the actual broadcast. Either way, I can honestly say I haven't seen them since, and that I don't really care about them. A lot of my favorite artists will never get a Grammy for whatever reason, but also, they don't really need one, because they're still going to be fucking awesome at the end of the day for me.
