  1. I remember walking out of the second to last show in 95, thinking it was a complete joke, and contemplating mailing the band asking for a refund. It was such a complete embarrassment, and I was pissed. Shocked to run into so many people who thought the show was amazing. Listening back now, pretty sure I got that one right. The Visions was great though. Some people just suck at listening to music.
  2. Not an 80's/Brent fan, but was listening to Dicks Picks 5, 12/26/79, and enjoyed some of that. Particularly the Estimated, which had some trippy keyboard from Brent while Jerry went wild, followed by a jam that started to sound like Eyes before steering into Caution territory.
  3. Listening now. The bug incident in Via is excellent.
  4. Star Wars & Schmilco for night 2? Just sayin.
  5. I actually found the Feedback from that show to be enjoyable, as it carries over some of the energy of the previous jam. Are there any other versions of Feedback that stand out? I think I was too young to appreciate it when I got into the Dead, and don't get that twisted anymore that I can handle listening to it. Wondering if there are any versions that stand out, or are they all pretty much the same waves of noise?
  6. Was that in the doc? I don't recall hearing about that one. Assumed most of the riot and crowd shots were from the last tour.
  7. http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/wilco/2017/coronado-performing-arts-center-rockford-il-53e4bfed.html Maybe due to the proximity to Madison, where the yokels were delayed in coming in from the field to post the setlist last time they played there.
  8. I can't speak for the Leavell/Williams era, or the Toler era Allmans, don't think Warren, Derek, Herring, Oteil, Woody, Pearson, or Quiones ever missed a show.
  9. There were a few Allmans shows without Gregg those last few years. Musically they looked pretty cool if you're into the more jammed out stuff and special guests. Would be a bummer if you made the trip to the Beacon for a show or two and he was gone though. Butch missed a few shows towards the end as well, but I don't think that was much of an issue.
  10. Can't see Derek talking shit about anything Oteil is involved in. I don't care for Dead and Corp., but you have to give them credit for not using the GD name.
  11. Bob was doing a show from TRI a while back, where he would be interviewed by Parish. Followed by some music. Phil was doing the same last year. Playing a show from that year, preceded by an interview with Jay Blakesberg on what was going on that year in Dead history. Obviously a lot more stories to tell.
  12. I caught Weir's struggles in that scene as well, but otherwise was surprised at how lucid and coherent he seemed throughout the movie. None of the classic Bobby brain farts or awkwardness seen in other interviews, particularly recently. Barlow's decline has been steep and tragic.
  13. Sam Cutler's thoughts on the film: https://www.facebook.com/sam.cutler/posts/10213250214993779
  14. I have a French friend who got into the Dead when he came over here for graduate school. Dude loved to party. Then he was living in Seattle. Some French buddies came to visit. They dosed, and went to a Dead show. I'd imagine it was something like that. He said they were all like little babies.
  15. The June Winterland run is likely overlooked due to the love for May.

  17. Frankenstein was on AMC this past weekend. Funny catching some of the shots that were used in the doc. I think the holy grail film was the recordings made of them on their first trip to England, that had never before been seen. Funny they call it the "holy grail," as there is another scene in the movie, with the cart being wheeled thru the vault, that is very reminiscent of the ending scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark. I asked the director if it was intentional, but he gave an indirect answer about it being the "Dead Sea Scrolls" rather than the "grail." Bob's wife was just talking about w
  18. Kesey's girlfriend and mother of one of his kids, while he was married. Then Jerry's baby mama. Apparently she was pretty good at growing grass too.
  19. Yes, I think the director focused on people who gave the best interviews, which is why Cutler and Trist were featured so much. Other people just did not make themselves available, which I believe is the case with Mtn Girl. Same with Hunter, but they tracked him down for one of the highlights. No Bill Graham either, and I think the influence of the Pranksters and Cassady was minimized. Also surprised that as significant as death was throughout the film, they left out the impact of the car crash in which Jerry's best friend died. There was definitely a narrative framework, and things were includ
