  1. even cinimon girl with its one note solo does not suck.
  2. That's what tom heinl calls a 'half day vacation'
  3. I've lived in logan square for 3 years now and edgewater 1 year before that both are nice. Logan square is getting pricey, but should be less than what you're playing now. as far as "real" people, i dunno it's all perspective, if you live in logan square you'll probably go to The whirlaway and smallbar or something and really will see the same types of people you see now. The Blvds are pretty tho.
  4. I enjoyed hunter's review of the new at the time ducatti 900. I mean hunter was basically a cafe racer himeself in more ways than one. http://www.latexnet.org/~csmith/sausage.html Some people will tell you that slow is good - and it may be, on some days - but I am here to tell you that fast is better. I've always believed this, in spite of the trouble it's caused me. Being shot out of a cannon will always be better than being squeezed out of a tube.
  5. I miss Rachel Bloomberg, she was a cute drummer.
  6. The christmas box is a compilation of the last 5 christmas EPs that he made for limited release and friends and family. I wouldn't really call it a singular project anymore than any other box set. Beisdes, what's wrong with prolific if it's somone you like? Zappa's large catalogue to me is the gift that keeps on giving. Anyway, I really liked sufjan's earlier 2 albums Michigan and Seven Swans. He's a studied oboist and pretty talanted arranger. It's good to see that different prospective in pop.
  7. Doesn't john fahey play this one?
  8. TNT was the first tortoise album I listened to and it got me hooked. It's less minimal than the earlier ones tho, if you're looking for that try Millions Now living will Never Die. The're all good, but TNT has my heart.
  9. Speaking of which, has anyone seen The David Rawlings machine? they are currently on tour, too bad i don't live in nashville.
  10. Oh that's right, the Moore one was in conjunction with the Sun Ra festival/exhibit. Avreeyal Ra was back at the hidout for one of the immediate sound nights playing drums later though.
  11. yeah there's nothing inherently worse about an external drive and a 150 firewire lacie is what I use for my itunes library. If it's clunking along you can just buy another external hard drive and use the freware clone program to copy it's contents rename it and you have your library. Oh and if it dies (clunking) stick it in the freezer for a half hour or so, if you're lucky you should get a bit of time out of it after that. Hard drives don't have a super long lifespan on average a few years is not too shabby since the manuafturing quality varies greatly with these guys.
  12. Those Immediate Sound shows at the hideout are highly reccomended and don't really ever sell out, free jazz is just not that popular. Tho I think they are a joy. The only one i've been to that sold out was the one where thurston moore showed up, tho maybe some others did that i missed but..
  13. I would love one if any are still avaliable, thanks
