Boy, this is sounding really nice today. Love the lineup, love the songs.

I really enjoy Stay Positive. At least half of it, I love. It just didn't compare to the first three for me. We'll see where Heaven ends up after a few months.

Wow. Not what I expected. It's definitely going to be polarizing. Not sure the indie kids are going to stick around. That said, here are a few thoughts from listen #1. Love the beginning. Love the band channeling the Stones. A ballsy opener for sure, but it makes perfect sense. We'd like to play for you. One thing about the CD booklet, the graphics and lyrics are a great companion to the music. And this is, first and foremost, a record. It needs to be listened to in one sitting. It's a journey. From The Sweet Part of the City to A Slight Discomfort. My one complaint, the background voc

Decided to go to Amoeba here in LA instead of a smaller store close to home. Waited about two hours, but was lucky enough to get everything I wanted (Hold Steady, DBT, Springsteen, Black Keys). Looking forward to a one person listening party tonight.

Same boat here. Took 3 such old people to a show last month...they are all big fans now.

I think I'm going to like this record more than Stay Positive.

Actually, I find this one pretty exciting. Great show from Delta Spirit in LA last night....Dawes tonight. I'm one away from the trifecta. http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2010/03/mgv_a_deer_tick.html#more

Been listening to this all day. Thanks for putting it on my radar, Solace. Really loving this....
-
Sorry, I thought it was a snoozefest. Like most cover records, I just want to hear the originals. Completely boring.....
-
Yeah, it's never really bugged me before. Not sure why it does on "Santa Fe." But, "The Wig He Made Her Wear" blows "Belvedere" away, IMHO, so that one doesn't bother me at all.....
-
Maybe it's because the beginning of Santa Fe sounds EXACTLY like their cover of "Like a Rolling Stone." I dunno, it will probably grow on me.

Gave this one a good, dedicated few listenings this weekend. While I do think it's not as strong as BTCD, it's a really good DBT album. I do disagree with a few here about the Cooley songs. "Eyes like glue" is really touching, and "Get Downtown" is a blast. I think the two weakest songs on here are Patterson's unfortunately. (Santa Fe (sounds too derivative of much of his DBT stuff) and The Flying Wallendas). Really looking forward to hearing some of these live in May.

Aaaah, finally.

My fave of 2009! Nice....
-
Some great performances here. Especially John Doe and Exene.
-
They sure seemed to feature the ones that did. Being there probably made most a little better, but Jason Mraz and James Taylor (from the ones they featured) certainly did suck. Unfortunately two of the best, Wilco and Elvis were seen and not heard, which is crazy. Hoping for a DVD for sure.

Damn, I wish Beck would have performed.....
-
My wife and I were so lucky to have attended last night. I hope this thing is broadcast, it was unbelievable. Wilco sounded so great. A completely faithful version, which was taylor made for their sound. They seemed so happy to be there. Here is the full setlist: Down By The River: John Mellencamp w/T Bone Burnett Mr. Soul: Ozomatli Don't Let It Bring You Down: Jackson Browne Long May You Run: Stephen Stills and Sheryl Crow Only Love Can Break Your Heart: Lady Antebellum Tell Me Why: Norah Jones Comes A Time: Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris, Patti Griffin Broken Arrow: Wilco Harvest M

A great resource for MP3's of just about anything Bruce related. All of the major '78 radio broadcasts are here. Enjoy! BTX MP3 index -
Hearing rumors of a tour and record in April. Let's hope that's true! We can settle this Franz vs. no Franz debate soon.
