  1. If they don't play "Cars Can't Escape" this weekend, they've missed a great opportunity! http://www.northcountrypublicradio.org/news/npr/161772951/ahead-of-carmageddon-ii-angelenos-fear-traffic-jams-in-the-sky
  2. Oh yeah, I forgot that. Good for everyone else! Popular music in commercials used to be taboo among artists. Now, with the exception of U2, Radiohead and a few others, it's actually encouraged by labels and management. There is no radio anymore, if a commercial helps sell some mp3's, it's worth it. Smaller bands can finance an entire record with one commercial. A little easier (and more reliable) than Kickstarter.
  3. No idea. Might have been recorded for the commercial. Whoever owns the publishing (the writer) has to sign off on this...so that would be Jeff. Edit: Here is some more info: http://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/sprint-introduces-unlimited-love-unlimited-140000473.html
  4. Me too. Be prepared for a two and a half (or 2:45) marathon. It's early in the tour, so you'll probably get 2:20 or so. Either way, no other artist works that hard at his age. Enjoy!
  5. This new one is easily his best since The Rising. For me, maybe the best since Lucky Town. At least that's excitement that I haven't had on first listens of Magic and Working On A Dream. Let's see if it sticks.
  6. Got one! Art of Almost (Alt.) isn't that different....kind of like the Black Moon Alt. And, no poster for me either...but beautiful red vinyl, and it sounds great!
  7. LOVING this new one. From googling, it doesn't sound too well liked from the tickheads, but man, it's exactly what I needed during a pretty awful week.
  8. Trying out the new board...love it, Solace! Oh, and I'm listening to:
  9. Thanks CTK...some great stuff here.
  10. The soundtrack to so much of my life. RIP Big Man. Now Playing: Kitty's Back. Hammersmith. Ugh.
  11. For what it's worth, if you're a DBT fan, this is fantastic. Especially the two covers with David Hood on bass. A must have. Some of the best recorded live DBT, IMHO.
  12. Lyrics here: http://jagjaguwar.com/blog/2011/05/bon-iver-bon-iver-the-lyrics/
  13. Interesting! The lyrics just don't do it for me....but who knows, it's early.
  14. And, the EP is great....All My Failures should have been on the record. Really looking forward to the vinyl.
  15. Here is a trailer for the new record... Daytrotter
  16. How did you guess? Actually, I was able to listen to the whole record the other day. Didn't get to walk away with a copy, though, unfortunately. Interestingly enough, Saturday night, I was watching the PBS documentary on the Troubadour club in Los Angeles. Lots and lots of James Taylor and Carole King, but it's a great look into the 60's-early 70's singer songwriter scene. Really fascinating. And it's my favorite club in LA hands down. Why am I telling you this? Because this new Dawes isn't a (The) Band record, it sounds just like a Jackson Browne album from 1975. Still not sure if
  17. Suprised such a major typo is now reproduced in every press release...but I think the song is called "The Way You Laugh." Edit: They've changed it on the site now....
  18. Loving this. Also loving the album cover. Seems to me they are embracing their "The Band" influences. Figures that they are backing Robbie up. Heard most of these songs live too, and while I wasn't sure early last year, they've really benefited from the constant touring. This first song sounds like they are finally sounding on record like they do live....
  19. And...a little "Trashcan" outside of the SF venue the other night. Not too watchable, but fun: Jack (who is jazzed for his 4th Middle Brother show on Thursday in LA)
  20. I see how that could be the case. Not sure that there are songs as strong as the last album by each group, but I do keep coming back to the record over some other new releases I've gotten lately, so it's a good sign. Looking forward to the 4 extra tracks that come with the vinyl pre order.
  21. No Radiohead for me. Still digesting this one....I think if you're a fan of Dawes, Deer Tick or Delta Spirit, there is much to love on this one.....
  22. OK, Mercy Buckets is in my top 5 DBT songs EVER. I freaking love this album. Got some shows in my future. I'm happy.
