New Conor Oberst "solo" record -- "Outer South"
cre618 replied to redpillbox's topic in Someone Else's Song
Listening now....hmmmm, interesting mix of stuff.....some stuff as poppy as I've heard Mr. Oberst....not sure I like it as much as the last...but it's early. -
Well, considering I live in Los Angeles...and I'm on vacation in Hawaii from June 20-28....I'd agree with you.

Thanks for the link...and I disagree...the album feels too much like Muzak to me, but it's fun to listen to the live DBT stuff with Booker. Jack

Justin played from 10:30 to 11:15 Jason played from 11:35 to 1:30 (with the usual cig and pee break). Enjoy! Jack P.S. Yeah, I knew it was a Mike Campbell song (someone was talking to Jason about it last night...but I totally forgot this morning)....not enough sleep.

Great double bill last night here in Los Angeles. It's tough to be fans of this kind of music in hipster LA, because these shows don't usually have very enthusiastic crowds. Last night seemed a bit more full than usual for Jason..but by the end (1:30AM!) there were only a few folks left. First of all, I had never seen Justin Townes Earle before.....really a fun performance. Just bought a ticket to see him again here in May. Love the new album, and I had no idea about his old timey "shtick." That said, he really got the crowd going. Looking forward to a whole show, instead of the 45 min

Alternating between: and April is gonna be a good month for new music.

Just giving it a quick listen before bed. It's been a great week for leaks.

Didn't even know about this record until today. I'll never tire of his voice....

Wow. As the father of a special needs child...count me in as one of the teary folks. Thanks SO much for posting. Jack

Nice. Frantically waiting for the leak of "A Positive Rage." And, making the trip up north to see them in a few weeks. You've got good taste Cortez. Jack

Man, reading this thread got me on a Lucero binge. And, I just found out they are playing in LA in May with Black Joe Lewis. Nice double bill. Is this a full fledged tour? Jack

Yeah, love DBT, love classic Booker T, but the album is still too close to listening to Muzak for me. Maybe after a few listens. So, on to....

I used to sing that song with my kids all of the time. They loved it. Unfortunately, they are teenagers now and wouldn't be caught dead listening to my music. Well, at least my 2 year old loves to dance to The Swish by The Hold Steady. Jack

Boy, whenever this thread bumps, I'm gonna freak out thinking it leaked. Jack

I loved Delta Spirit, but like I said, the new stuff is a bit puzzling to me. I liked that M. Ward wasn't as polished....his records are, so a little raggedness in the live show is a good thing (for me). Jack

AHA. Got it. In my M. Ward phase, getting ready for the show tomorrow night...but after that, I'll be looking forward to this one leaking. Jack

Am I missing a specific definition for "leak"? Jack

OK, I'm hooked. This one is sounding pretty great as background to my work day today. I'm ashamed to admit, I'm a BPB and WO newbie....uh oh, I've got lots of catching up to do.... Jack
