Jeff Tweedy - Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto - 3/22

was this the guy that kept laughing when tweedy played something difficult, because that guy needs to catch a beating. -
2 tix Left Orchestra row F. face + fees is $110 but will take the best offer. 416*786*3993

they both opened for the tragically hip on another road side attraction ('97). wilco's set was earlier in the day than ms. crowe's. but they blew everyone out of the water... the memories... sigh.
-
stuffing the ballot box - whatever it takes to get the band to dust of some rarely played songs.
-
it was ugly in the balcony. the people yelling for dan to sit were as annoying as dan and the ushers were. i stood behind the last row of seats until the shit cleared. here's a video of the encore w/ feist. maybe this will make you feel better about your stand.

the show was great. hopefully they will break out some AM tunes tonight. also without being too personal, it's Sue's family.
-
i'm not a friend of the hall, but i heard there was a presale for wilco tomorrow.
-
presale was a very small allotment of floor seats. a bunch of seats are reserved for the 'friends of massey hall' which is usually 5 rows around row 10.
-
they opened up around 9:55.

didn't think the sound was muddy, just really really loud. earplugs helped that a lot. i would have been miserable w/o them. video/camera's would be less distracting if people turned off the screens and used the view finders.

90$ USD or 105$ CAD... OBO. I think this was approximately what face + service charges were.
-
wilco did well at msg. it was a pretty lighthearted show... even for them, with lots of loose covers. it was still when they were touring with the screen... which helped a lot. i'm not sure what to expect from them in the opening slot... but i'm hoping for the arena rock version of box full of letters.

word is there will be a second show in toronto. probably will get announced after the first one sells out.
-
love neil, but he has some of the most obnoxious fans of any act i've seen. wilco has a pretty strong fan base in canada. even the ACC show will be lively with a bunch of wilco diehards. of course if past experience is indicative, your best bet for a great crowd is montreal. if it was a weekend i'd be all over it. alas, work will probably limit me to toronto only.
-
it's not in wilcobase... has it ever been played live, or circulated?
-
after the residency, i can't stand the idea of missing out on this entire tour.

Will there be an official CD release of the Wilco Residency Nights?
redstripe replied to engerling's topic in Just A Fan
naturally. the first two nights don't sound half bad either. although, given the significance of the shows, i'd love to have more pristine versions. since it's totally unrealistic to want the new lineup to re-cut AM, this is the next best thing. also, if they do release boards, i can try my hand at 5.1 matrix mix. -
if they were selling 5 for $125, $200 isn't that outrageous. not my auction, but is has images.
