  1. Have to say the jury's out on this version for me, but I'm willing to follow Jeff along with whatever he feels like trying. I admire him trying to do something new with this song
  2. I know this is a silly, trivial thing, but Jeff looks so damn good right now
  3. Aww, this was my request for the Philly show. He didn't do it then--I'm sure he's secretly dedicating this to me (Please Tell My Brother)
  4. He has really fallen back in love with New Madrid. Not that it was ever out of favor. AAnd Sarah, I'll bet you'll get Hummingbird--he's been doing that a lot lately
  5. I love the fact that the audience is enthusiastic and actually applauding mid-song
  6. Fuck, I'm waaaaay into the cult Hey Matt! I love everything about this song
  7. Tim, put down those pictures and behold the magnificence that is a freshly shaved Jeff!
  8. So in real life, here's my setup: Watching on my Macbook in full screen Commenting o-in listening party (here) on iPad Got the vinyl beside me and following along with the lyrics on the sleeves Eating 5-day old cold pizza
  9. I love that line about please let me be a little more--please let me be what you're dreaming for
  10. Hi Susan! (Cold as Gasoline) Hi Fran! Hi Arlene! Hi Donna! Hi Sarah! And hi to the rest of you whose real names I don't know
  11. I was here right on time! That was nice to hear audience applause in the middle of Diamond Light.
  12. That's one of the best interviews with him I've read. You can really tell you did your research and you elicited good, insightful answers from him. Well done!
  13. The text itself was reasonably positive, but the rating seems low. 3.5 out of 5. It's like a 70 on a test. Barely passing. I didn't think the narrative matched the numerical score.
  14. I just loved it. Spencer looked seriously cute during the interview portion--he sure does have Jeff's eyes and cheekbones, even if the whole effect is more lean and angular. And I never really noticed how similar their verbal styles are. They looked happy and sounded great during the songs too. Jeff looked really adorable while singing.
  15. I picked up the yellow colored vinyl at the show last night and yes, it does contain the CD. I also, of course, had preordered the CD (bundled with something or other) but haven't gotten it yet in the mail--maybe it will be waiting for me at home. But I think there are just the pictures--no actual liner notes per se, at least not in terms of the written word. And Samuel L. Tweedy is indeed the executive producer. The pictures are just adorable.
  16. And ta-da, it is here! http://www.npr.org/event/music/350594224/tweedy-tiny-desk-concert?autoplay=true
  17. That sweet, sweet Darin Gray picked up his setlist off the floor and handed it to me at the end of the show last night. Here's what was on it. But it doesn't include the Jeff solo portion and my memory is terrible. Nobody Dies Anymore Flowering Summer Noon World Away New Moon Honey Combed Desert Bell Slow Love Fake Fur Coat Diamond Light Wait for Love High as Hello Low Key _________ Solo ______ Love Like a Wire Jesus Wept (but this was not played--swapped out for You Are Not Alone) Only The Lord Knows California Stars I am just too foggy this morning to even take a stab at the solo songs.
  18. Not exactly a correction, but Jeff actually wrote "Only the Lord Knows" for Mavis, so even though it was on her album, it's not quite a Mavis cover. And yes, what a fantastic setlist!
  19. Starting at 9:00 PM. Yay for those of us who can't be there!! http://www.bam.org/TweedyLive
  20. Just saw Darin Gray announce this on Facebook!
