  1. Sent you an email and a PM. I definitely want this ticket!
  2. I have the same problem with him. Just brush the goddamn hair out of your eyes so you can see! "Cousin It" made me laugh out loud.
  3. Sarah, you intrepid reporter, you have inspired me!! If I can get a great seat I have just made a crazy decision to come to the Philly show. I'm so damn thrilled with this album that I have just got to see them again in a nice theater setting--and soon!
  4. My God, that Diamond Light performance from Sound Opinions was just incredible. Such emotional playing--it took my breath away!
  5. American Songwriter gave it 3.5 out of 5 http://www.americansongwriter.com/2014/09/tweedy-sukierae/ and Magnet magazine gave it 8.5 out of 10 stars (no link since I can't find it online)
  6. Yes, that was strangely brief. I wonder if it's just a blurb from the online version of the magazine and there will be a more fleshed out version in the print edition.
  7. Can you believe how many great and revealing articles we're getting from Jeff these days? Mods, Would it be possible to set up a separate thread with the articles that are interviews with Jeff or articles about Sukierae--in other words, articles that aren't really reviews of the album? This piece in The Guardian is excellent! Quite an illuminating glimpse into the making of the album, as well as Jeff's always interesting thoughts generally. Speaking of Low Key, I had to laugh, because I'm definitely NOT a low key participant at shows, but it's good to know that he doesn't get discouraged at
  8. What a perfect time to resurrect this thread, which I hadn't seen before. Thank you, NN, for writing those words in the first place, and thanks for the reminder of all the legitimate reasons we have to love this band.
  9. I finally got my hands on a copy of Magnet magazine today with Jeff and Spencer on the cover, and all I can say is everyone who's a fan should seek it out. It's a 8-page article, with pictures interspersed, and it doesn't wallow in mawkish sentimentality. Definitely a good read! In my Podunk town there were no music stores that carried the magazine, but I finally found it in a Barnes and Noble and it was well worth the wait. Now I'm in full-on obsessive mode, reading the article and listening to the stream. I won't get to see Tweedy again until Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in early October, but m
  10. Agreed. It's impossible to give a good impression after just a couple of listens. But the sequencing feels really well thought out, and my first impression of the songs I hadn't already heard was very positive. It's great to hear everything in context.
  11. It's just beautiful. I feel like I've spent a very intimate evening and morning with my favorite artist singing sweetly in my ear. It's going to take a while to process all of this and let it settle in, but so far this is everything I could have hoped for. The opening and closing songs are pretty perfect too.
  12. NPR is streaming the whole album! http://www.npr.org/2014/09/14/347638329/first-listen-tweedy-sukierae?autoplay=true
  13. It's so much fun to listen to this show again, all thanks to NYC Taper. I haven't posted about my experience at Lockn' because it was just so overwhelming, in both good and bad ways. Actually, the only bad was stuff that I guess is par for the course at festivals--no Internet connectivity, so I kept getting separated from my friends, kept getting lost trying to get to my car in the parking lot, trying to decide whether to hang back and enjoy the music with friends from a distance or get up front and feel more of a connection with the band. I just don't go to that many big festivals and these
  14. There's a new Tiny Desk concert up featuring his new songs here http://www.npr.org/event/music/346846756/justin-townes-earle-tiny-desk-concert Haven't listened to it yet, but I'm always interested in what JTE is doing.
  15. I don't know any more about it than this, but Spencer tweeted yesterday that he and his dad were in the studio recording a Tiny Desk concert that will be aired soon! From the accompanying picture, it looked like just the two of them, but the rest of the Tweedy band may also be included.
  16. I don't think there was any permutation of weather that did not happen during Wilco's set yesterday. Clouds, sunshine, rain, rainbows, more sunshine, clouds--it was hard to keep up!
  17. if you are a Wilco fan I would highly recommend getting solid sound night one as well it was just so much fun to hear them play all those covers and it's a pretty unique experience
  18. Bosco, Worlrecordplayer, and anyone else who's at Lockn on Saturday, please come up and make sure we say hi. I hope to be right up on the rail near center. If so, I'll probably be glued to my spot.
  19. I'm actually at Lockn now and thinking it'll be interesting to see what they do with a 2-night stand at a festival. Of course it'll be shorter sets but I think probably no repeats. Or at most one or two.
  20. When Wilco played at the Ryman in 2011 I stayed at a wonderful home that I found on Airbnb. Fantastic hosts, very close to downtown (although you need a car) and it was quite reasonable. If anybody's interested send me a PM and I will check into it further for you.
  21. Somebody posted a printed setlist on Twitter. https://twitter.com/cherrera177/status/507360542630354944/photo/1 How accurate this is I have no idea. Hopefully good ol' bbop is there to give us the lowdown after the show. A lot of my friends are there right up front, but they're unreliable scalawags who are not likely to be posting setlists.
  22. Has anyone else seen the brand new issue of Rolling Stone with Robin Williams on the cover? It has a much longer article on Jeff and Spencer--a 2-page spread, I believe. I'm a subscriber and got it in the mail yesterday, but I can't access the online content, even to post a preview. It's a good article, based on an interview conducted at The Loft, with a fair amount of joshing between Jeff and Spencer, although it does dwell a bit much on the melancholy aspects of the making of Sukierae. Hopefully it will soon be posted online.
  23. Well, we've been through a bit of a drought recently. The floodgates are open now!
  24. Got my 3 GA for Raleigh. Life is good.
