Does anyone know if a cable box is ALWAYS necessary to receive HDTV? We have an HDTV and a cable box for it, but we are about to purchase another (19" or 22" LCD) for another room. Do we need another HDTV box rented from Comcast to use it in HD? Or do they sell them now with built-in converters so we can just plug the cable into the back sans converter box?

Well again, you as a Catholic, make a choice, but your religious beliefs aren't the beliefs of all and their choices deserve to be their own. NO ONE wants an abortion, but it is up to the individuals directly involved to make the determination whether or not that is the best course of action. I respect your beliefs and realize that there are no easy answers on this issue and we're not likely to change anyone's minds on an iNternet message board, so I'll leave it at that as well. (although you raised the issue of the advertisement).

It is indeed a 9 cd box. It is definitely good if you like that sort of music. I burned the collection form an old girlfriend a while back, so I'm not sure how much it goes for and whether that cost is justified.

Ads like that seem to miss the point, IMO. I saw a bumper sticker recently in the same vein. It read, "Smile! Your mother chose life!" Do pre-lifers think that pro-choicers sit around plotting more ways to kill babies? The point is that it remains a choice. As Clinton said (paraphrasing), "abortion should be legal, safe and rare."

George Harrison was in the Byrds!?!

Nice I had to make one of those too, but I think it would be more appropriate to post it in another thread.

I'm not sure if it was actually the ShamWow or if it was one of those imitators Vince warns about, but a friend of mine ordered it and gave us a couple. It was essentially a piece of felt that not only did not make me say "wow!" it didn't really absorb at all, merely pushed liquid around.

This reminds me of my "Well-adjusted and Charitable Musicians" mix.

Yes on the former; no on the latter. I've always found Spiders kind of uninteresting. *ducks* I AM disappointed that Poor Places is not on there.

So since Richard has now met Locke before he was born, will he remember him when he goes to test young Locke?

Sooo.... anyone care about the Super Bowl? I just want it to be over so I can stop hearing about how the longest active championship drought belongs to the Cubs.

Nah, there's plenty of people at Jr. high school dances across the country that love it! (well, in the '80s)

Can we please stop labeling smart as "elitist"? Would you have liked it better if he said "We're gonna need to apply some Chicago toughness down here, ya betcha!"

Yeah we are having a relatively small wedding and, while some won't know the songs, most will. Thanks for the suggestions all! I think we are going to go with the version of Forever Young from The Last Waltz. We'll fade in just before the last verse (which seems the most appropriate verse) to make it a two minute dance. If anyone cares, we are our doing JGB's version of Shining Star as our first dance. We are also fading that one in to make it shorter. I love dancing with my fiance, but no one wants to see me dance for nine minutes!

Agreed, but I like that it was a pretty full band. I imagine a lot of those kinks will be worked out by the time I see him in a month.

I work from home, so hi-speed internet is essential. I don't have any premium cable channels. I used to have HBO, but realized all I was watching anymore was Entourage. I could live without cable, but it doesn't feel like a big expense either. Never use bottled water and not because of cost. Cell phone is my primary work phone -- I don't even have a land line -- and I write it off as a work expense. Make my own coffee! I rarely go to concerts over $30. I think my next expensive concert is Andrew Bird and that is $25.

Two minutes is plenty! We thought about Waste, but it has been used as a first dance at one of our good friends' wedding, so... It's also a little too direct of a love song for a dance with parents.
