Does anyone honestly think the only difference between YHF/AGiB and SBS is a lack of "noise"? The songwriting is much more unique and challenging in those older albums -- noise or not -- and the arrangements are much more interesting (IMO). I've seen some point to O'Rourke as the "bringer of noise" for these albums... Is that true? If so, seems odd to me as that is NOT what his stuff -- both solo and with Loose Fur -- sounds like.

Personally, I just sport one these:

I think windfall taxes are a terrible idea, but I would like to see a fair market value charged to companies that use public lands for their resources. This goes for oil & gas, mining, grazing, timber, etc... even ski areas.

We've got some time (and we've already got our first dance song picked out), but I am having trouble with songs while we dance with our parents. First, do we need separate songs? I figured we would each dance with our respective parents (me with my mother, her with her father) during one tune, but I'm not sure of the etiquette. I've been to seemingly hundreds of weddings, but I can't recall how most do it. Secondly, what's a good song? I'll tell you, I'm a music guy and don't much pay attention to the lyrics and it has made it difficult to choose. I don't want to end up with an Afternoon De

Well I'm in that "new crop of fans" I guess. I didn't find anything particularly exciting (or maybe new and different is the better way to say it) to my ears about Wilco until YHF. I mean there were nice, good songs, but nothing new and after 35 years of listening to music, I want something new and unique to my ears. YHF represented that. I have since gone back and listened to the earlier albums, of course, and there is much to love. But, I find myself reaching for YHF, AGiB or Kicking Television if I want a Wilco fix as that is where the fresh sound is to me. I think it may be that I am more

I found this link and thought it would be appropriate to post here.

Is that real? I live in CO where McCain is advertising heavily and I've never seen that. Plus, it doesn't have the "I'm John McCain and I approved this message" voiceover.

All people who don't agree with me suck at everything! Can we lose the blanket generalizations? Not all those who DON't support Obama are racist and not all those who do are sheep. ETA: I'm not calling you out specifically, bobbob1313, just the one post in a series of generalizations that I happened to quote. This sort of thing is exactly what the candidates want us to do rather than to focus on the things that really matter.

I wish he wouldn't talk about race myself, but it is clearly an issue. I would never argue that everyone voting against him is doing so out of prejudice, just as I would never argue that everyone voting for him is just blindly jumping on the bandwagon -- it IS possible for two well-informed, well-reasoned voters to have a differences in opinion on how things should be done and who is the right man for the job. BUT there is clearly an element of race to this ... umm... race. From the Appalachian voters I saw during the primaries that had no problem declaring they would never vote for a black ma

Well can't you just download a converter? There are tons of them out there. I use Flip4Mac on a Mac.

I just tried it with an MPG file. I just dragged it to my Movies folder in iTunes and it shows up as a "Quicktime Movie File" in iTunes. I'm on a Mac, but I wouldn't think there would be a difference for a PC.

We watched Lions for Lambs last night. Too simplistic and preachy for anyone paying attention.

If I were to make a top 10 Phish tune list, it'd go something like this: 1. Stash 2. Fluffhead 3. You Enjoy Myself 4. Reba 5. Col Forbin's Ascent-> Fly Famous Mockingbird 6. Harry Hood 7. Guyute (great composition -- maybe Trey's best -- that is unfairly maligned due its lack of a jam) 8. Run Like an Antelope 9. The Divided Sky 10. Split Open & Melt Just missing the cut is David Bowie.
