  1. I agree but there does seem to be a level of religious justification for it as well. I mean Bush clearly feels he is guided by God and surely he believes that God to be infallible.
  2. Cool, thanks. I felt completely lost when I was toying around the last time I brought my camera to a concert. For example, I didn't know if I should up the ISO or decrease it... or just leave it on automatic. The spotlight tricks are interesting. I'll try that. I did try the "night snapshot" preset but that didn't seem to make any difference whatsoever. Anyway, thanks for the response. I'm seeing two night of Ween next week, so I'll have a chance to try some of this out.
  3. Wait, who was safe? I thought the guy at second was called safe and that was the reason the announcer says "would've been a double play if they had a better 2nd baseman." I'll have to watch it again. ETA: Oh yeah, the guy at first is clearly called safe... and the guy at 2nd clearly SHOULD have been called safe. That was WAY more than a phantom tag.
  4. That's a nice move, IMO. I'm seeing the Cubs at Wrigley on Saturday and Sean Marshall is scheduled to start. I wonder if Harden could get that start instead. I would pretty psyched about that. ETA: "He'll pitch in the San Francisco series," Piniella said.
  5. So I had a thought and since this is a discussion board, I thought I would see if this thought sparked discussion. Please keep in mind that this is off the top of my head, not well researched and not a "position" I am taking. Merely an opportunity to air said thought and see if it makes sense to others. Anyway... I was thinking about a key GOP issue (or at least marketing slogan): "redistribution of wealth." I don't have current numbers, but this seems to show that states that vote democrat disproportionately pay into the system, while "red states" disproportionately benefit. Looking at the
  6. Yup, one of my employees years ago called one of our clients a bitch and she was included thanks to this little glitch. Oops.
  7. I like Seu Jorge's Life on Mars? cover from the A Life Aquatic soundtrack.
  8. So I am not in any way shape or form a photographer. I have a Canon PowerShot SD 700 IS ... a point and shoot. I was wondering if anyone could give me pointers on getting better pictures in dark venues. Most the time, I just try to hold the camera still for long exposures but they just come out looking like impressionist paintings. Ha! Is there anything I can do short of getting a better camera, learning about photography and/or hauling around a tripod?
  9. That's Saratoga '85, right? I was at that show. Fun night... despite "Butch."
  10. I don't know. Isn't Sheets in the last year of his contract as well? I don't see how they keep them both. They seem to be putting all their eggs in this year's basket. But, as a Cubs fan, the Brew Crew scare me. The Cubs just haven't had much success against them. The NL Central is one helluva a division this year. I'll be at Wrigley on Saturday! Woohoo!
  11. I've been listening to most of these. The Golden Age might be my favorite so far, but I just really love that tune. I've posted a few bedroom recorded tracks, but here is my old band's version of Gypsy Queen.
  12. Has anyone seen Fog of War? I wonder if Powell is feeling as much regret as McNamara in that film.
  13. I've always liked BTS, but didn't LOVE an album of their's until You In Reverse. Keep It... would be #2 for me, with Perfect in third.
  14. '76, no? These shows: 10/09/76 (Sat) Oakland-Alameda County Stadium - Oakland, CA Set 1: Promised Land, Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo, Cassidy, Tennessee Jed, Looks Like Rain, They Love Each Other, Minglewood Blues, Scarlet Begonias, Lazy Lightning > Supplication, Sugaree Set 2: St. Stephen > Not Fade Away > St. Stephen > Help On The Way > Slipknot > Drums > Samson & Delilah > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower > One More Saturday Night, E: U.S. Blues Comment: "Day on the Green #8" With The Who 10/10/76 (Sun) Oakland-Alameda County Stadium - Oakla
  15. Sarah, that was beautiful. Nice work! Here is another one of mine. I don't have as beautiful a singing voice as you do so I tend to stick to my little 4 track at home and concentrate on guitar. 1983 (A Merman I Should Turn To Be) ... just the jam Drew, how did you record that? It's really good and I really like the strings. Did you play that yourself?
  16. Thanks. I think I figured it out (tell me if this doesn't work ). This is just me, my guitar, a crappy solid state practice amp, a Dr. Rhythm drum machine and a Tascam cassette 4 track recorder. My instrumental version of Radiohead's Paranoid Android P.S. It took me so long to figure this out that I don't have time right now to hear your cover. I'll check it out and comment either later tonight or tomorrow as I have to run out now.
  17. Does anything know anything about a password? If not, I'd still be very appreciative of PM.
  18. I'd share, but I don't know where I could host the MP3. Any advice?
  19. Movie on! http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2008/06/jeffrey-tambor.html ETA: I just laughed out loud reading some of the quotes in this thread. How does a show this good get canceled yet Two and Half Men and According to Jim succeed!?!
  20. Ditto. I looked around the Tubes, but everything I found is being reported as fake.
  21. I guess since we seem to have strayed from the original parameters, I'll go ahead and say I saw two "legends" in what i would call past their prime: The Stones in '81 and The Who in '82. Of course I did mention Miles earlier and he was WAY past his prime in '88.
  22. As I indicated, I am not saying it is fair. But, even if it was Hillary, the GOP would be hard-pressed to make significant in-roads with minority groups and their overtures have been so transparent it makes this a bit funny. That's all I get out of it. At the very least it seems like a gaffe on the part of the campaign. Sorta like when Bob Schaffer here in CO had a commercial about being a Colorado boy and had Denali in the ad.
