  1. Yeah, towards the end of the second disc it's like "what the fuck is going on here?" 6. "(Was I) In Your Dreams" – WTF?? I mean, yeah, it has some nifty country sounding riffs, but I mean... the song writing just seems lazy in that song. 7. "Why Would You Wanna Live" – 4:16 - This song just almost hurts to listen to.. 8. But then they redeem themselves with the beautiful/brilliant "The Lonely 1". But "Being There" still remains in my top two favorite Wilco albums.
  2. Thanks. Good because I already have some of those symptoms, caused by pollen allergies, so it should be an easy sale...... Or is it pollen allergies? I'm freakin out man!! I really shouldn't be poking fun at this, it sounds like its pretty serious, and people have died..
  3. It's kind of comical that both the companies that I work for (the one I'm employed by, and the one I support) has sent out these important emails warning everyone to stay home if they have flu symptoms.. Everyone is freaking out.. But it sounds like a good reason for me to take Friday off.
  4. I can dig that.. I go through long spans where I won't listen to their records, live performance, or anything, but I still come here for news, etc., or just to unwind from the stresses of work. It's really only when I'm geeking out about a new album or concert that I come here to discuss the band or get band related news/information.
  5. Interesting. Ok, I'm proven wrong then... I guess you can still be a true Wilco fan and think one of their albums suck. My definition of a true wilco fan - Someone that posts daily on their fan message board.
  6. Just doing my part to keep it interesting. But really, does anyone here honestly think a single Wilco records SUCKS?
  7. That's how I feel, except I believe this is the best incarnation of Wilco. Even if it's their worst album, it definitely will not suck.. One can't be a true Wilco fan and say that SBS sucks, or AM sucks, etc. They may not be your favorite of their albums but I know you don't think they suck, or else you wouldn't be hanging out at Via Chicago.
  8. Do you have Netflix? It's available there.. Thats how I got to see it. It was pretty good, worth the rental, but not worth purchasing IMO.
  9. Yeah, I'd say that's valid. I know there are a couple bands (even pretty well known one's) that their only website is on myspace.
  10. Exactly. I was just listening to a 97 show from Minnesota the other day, and they went off on a dueling banjo's medley in the middle of Casino queen that lasted several minutes. It was quite awesome actually..
  11. Yeah, I look at it as an essential networking tool for my band and thats it.. Other than that, its slow, filled with ads, bugs, and just overall shitty...
  12. Although Nels could never top that twangy country solo style that Jay had, he makes up for it with his own style. I agree that Wilco has always been a guitar driven band, and Nels is literally a modern guitar God in my book. And if you want emotion, don't forget his solo during She's A Jar. I have no idea how he makes that sound, but it sounds like several classical stringed instruments together.. About got me teary eyed as well in Asheville.
  13. I loath myspace as well, but it is a great networking tool for bands. It's pretty easy to get a lot of exposure on myspace with adding friends, joining groups, etc. If your band just has an official website, you have to do A LOT of manual leg work (not to mention the cost to host it) to get it advertised. My band has an official site and a myspace site, but we always tell folks to visit us on myspace, and also include our myspace address on CD's. It's always the place where "fans" are more likely to go.. From my experience at least.

  15. Sorry to be going way off topic, but I'd also I'd like to note; at the end of Titanic when the ship is sinking, watching that on the big screen, I could have sworn I was on that boat going down with them.. They really did a good job of pulling you into the movie like you are really there. There are few movies in history that have done that so well. Saving Private Ryan is another one.. My grandfather (veteran) couldn't even watch the first 2 minutes of it..
  16. I can dig. And I too have some mainstream stuff I like. I'm a huge Coldplay fan, and they sell out arena shows charging $100 a ticket.. But I agree that it must be because bands like Linkin Park play to a wider audience. They are exposed to more people, marketed better by their huge record companies, and they purposely "sell out".. It's their intention to sell out, and they are good at it.
  17. Good point. As terrible as their music is, they actually do play it live.. And now with auto-tune, the Britney Spears types have yet another crutch available. If they don't want to risk ruining their career with a lip-sync track, they can put auto-tune on their voice which matches pitches for them, so they sound like they are great singers, when in reality they probably sound like howling dogs off the mic.
  18. Sorry to go on a rant: It always fascinates me how such shitty bands can get so popular.. Bands like Creed, Nickelback, Lincoln Park.. all of those clowns... Is it the marketing? Is it their look? I think it's because there are just so many casual music listeners. People that don't really know what they are listening to, but listen to it because it's on the radio and apparently, it's really good music right? So they crank it up, head bang, and belt out the cheesy lyrics.. Maybe it has something to do with not being exposed to good music at a young age? I was fortunate enough to be ex
  19. My take on the pillow: it's a way to just make noise by holding down more keys then he can with his hands/fingers. Sliding over the keys etc., making cool sounds..
  20. Really? Interesting.. I've never been too found of that song, but I have seen a pattern over the years. Females seem to dig that song a lot for some reason..
  21. Bad song or not, its considered a rare gem and I think those are always cool to hear live.. And plus, I actually like the song a lot.. It sounds almost like a 60's surf rock song, but not quite.. Its unique.
  22. Jen - Didn't you do something like that for "Dreamer In My Dreams" for the Charleston show? Although they didn't play it.. But I did see it at the end of the set list.. I guess just in case they were feeling saucy enough to play it.
  23. Yes, they were really hard to see because of everyone standing. They were sitting on the edge in front of John. When I saw him walk over to sit down on the edge, I knew he was going to be singing with Lilac.
