Happy birthday!

Ah geeze.. Well, now its time for me to stay out of the new album threads. I'm one of the few that is going to try and wait for the official release date before I listen.. It's going to be a long month and half..
-
This is very true. It's the first Shins song I ever heard. They played it live on a NPR show, I think it was "all songs considered". Beautiful vocal melodies in that song.
-
I hate turning a Shins thread into a MMJ thread but to me, MMJ is a band that flat out Rocks, they know how to put on a great show, and one or two of their tunes rank as some of my favorite tunes of all time. However, they leave a lot to desire lyrically, the overall songwriting seems a little lazy at times, and their latest album was very weak in my opinion. So they fall into this catagory, at least for me.
-
Oh am I? Do you have any hard facts to base your assertion on? kidding..
-
I can dig. They have definitely been one of those bands for me, along with MMJ. I like them, I'll pop in there CD every once in a while, but there's just something missing.

This should have its own thread. My suggestion:
-
Yep that's what I meant. Giving you my Dirty Harry stare..

Futurama - brilliant, hilarious, underrated, misunderstood show.. One of my all time favs.
-
I really am Edward Rooney, principle of Shermer Highschool, Shermer Illinois. My nickname is Lamrod. Nine days...
-
Missed this too. But hey, happy birthday Jen and Foxwell!!
-
I love the album cover.. It's funny, bizarre, and like someone mentioned earlier, completely non-pretentious... I have no idea what the cover means but it's brilliant!
-
I might have to use that or something like it in a song lyric..

You must not want Change! change.......... change......................change, change................. change.

Downloaded last night and I'm currently seeding it. There were around 11 seeds when I downloaded and the speed was around 100+ kbs the whole time. Sounds like this is a pretty popular show.
-
And when he paid for it, he said "keep the change"
-
I've got it.. PM me and I'll hook you up.

Yeah, Rescue Me is great TV. Every episode so far this season has been the shiznit. And the funny parts have been especially funny this year.. I especially loved a couple episodes ago when everyone was checking out the black bar for the first time. You literally couldn't see anything but the characters.. They kept tripping over everything, cracked me up..

There's really not that much to it, especially bittorrent. Thanks to the kindness of folks like A-man, there is a wealth of information here. That thread pretty much has everything you need to know about downloading/listening to a show. But don't be intimidated; it really is pretty simple. If you can wait until the show makes it to the wilco archive, it's as simple as: 1. Downloading the show 2. Uzip the songs 3. Find an encoder that can change the format from FLAC to MP3 (many good ones listed in that thread) 4. Enjoy!

Ok, so I'm thinking about getting the new EH Holy Grail of Reverb. It's now called the Nano reverb because EH decided to install the electronics into a smaller, more durable box. They discontinued the old one. Sounds like a lot of you folks have this pedal (well the original version). What are your thoughts on it?
-
Thanks A-man! I should have a chance to grab one of them tonight. I'm sure they both sound good, but I'll start with the one that has the most seeds first and start seeding myself.
-
Yeah, check us out!! We're no Wilco, but we don't suck... we don't suck at all...
-
Indeed it was... Did you grab the torrent? Are there still people seeding? I haven't had a chance to download yet, but I need to soon.

Sounds like a plan.. Another great one, but probably not one of the greatest of all time, Joe Santiago of The Pixies. He's quite underrated actually, but he's another one of those guitarists that can easily be identified after a few notes. And I don't think I've ever heard him bend a note.. How he can sound so great and unique without doing this, amazes me.
-
Yes, he may not have crafted the modern electric guitar sound like Hendrix did, or brought blues guitar to a whole new level like SRV did, or practically invented the Jazz guitar sound like Wes Montgomery did, but he's an incredible guitar player that is/was in a great band, that has a style of his own that has brought me close to tears like no other guitar player can.. Yes, it's a matter of personal opinion whether you think a guitarist is great or not, but I don't think I'm alone in my views, and as John Smith stated, this is the first I have heard of anyone stating that David Gilmore isn't
