Looks like I have to re-register too. Yeah I know this download stuff is a free handout, but they really should get it working right. .

I think it's premeditated for some, but others, some jerk with a promo copy leaks it. I have known of several people getting promo copies of albums several months before their release. Even this guy I used to know that worked at a record store, he used to get them all the time.. He could have easily leaked several albums, but chose not to.

Oops, I guess I had them mixed up. Details.. details.. Well you get my point.

I agree, Asheville is a fine city indeed and I try to go there any chance I get. I'm seeing Band Of Horses there in June. I had the choice between Charlotte, which is closer and has a better venue, but I still chose Asheville. Asheville just has this overall laid back, artsy, friendly, vibe about it. I guess it's all the Fountain Dancers that live there.

Yeah, unfortunately you're probably right. I'm sure there will be an ass clown or two, talking the whole time. Literally, the only reason I didn't tell that guy at the Charleston show to "sit the fuck down" because he was so drunk, he would have probably picked a fight with me... I really didn't want to get kicked out of a Wilco show, so early in the set. But why am I posting about this? I should be stoked about the show. I'll stop ranting now and be stoked.
-
I just hope that no one gets too drunk and starts screaming for Jeff to "turn it up"... Or people talking loudly during the quiet parts.. Man, that shit nearly ruined the show for me in Charleston. But Asheville is more of a laid back town where every show I have been to, folks are there to enjoy the music, not get trashed. We'll see.

Glad you can make it. And welcome to the board.

The wife and I will be there.. I'm hoping to get there in time for at least a or two before the show. Possibly the Bier Garden.. Or Barley's (can't ever go wrong with that place). I'm trying my best to stay out of the "After the show" threads so I will be completely surprised by the tunes they play.. New songs? Old gems? I want to be surprised, like Christmas morning.

It most certainly is snow! Crazy huh? It snowed the night before but it was all melted by around 10 that morning. It stayed in the 40's most of my trip but the wind chill was very COLD.
-
Cool deal. We'll probably eat somewhere close to the Thomas Wolfe since we'll be getting there about an hour before show time. Just enough time for a quick bite to eat and a brew or two.
-
Yeah, I'm hoping we can get there early enough to at least get a bite to eat before the show (and for me). These week day shows are kind of a pain when you have to work, find childcare etc.

Here are some photo's taken in Gettysburg last week. Wednesday morning, I woke up early to go and walk in the foot steps of the soldiers of the famous "Pickett's Charge". I snapped photo's the whole way, and here are a few of them. Hope you enjoy.

Yeah, I wont be in much of a hurry to leave the bar to see them play.. Even though I'm sure it'll be an entertaining show, they're just not really my cup of tea.

This threads reminds me of why I quit taking the pot years ago.

Looks like Baltimore would be closest to you.

Yeah, the latest one "Song of the Pearl" seems to be a little less trippy than the last two. Seems to be a little more straight forward, but it is still "stoner-rock". I'm looking forward to the BOH/Arbouretum show in Asheville. It's always a pleasant surprise when a good band opens the show. That's how I got into Bon Iver (when they opened for Wilco)
-
So these guys are opening for Band of Horses on a few of their dates, including the show I am attending. Anyone familiar with them? I like what I have heard so far. They are kind of stoner-rock sounding.

I made a "best of" recently with songs suggested by the kind folks of VC. I had dozens of songs to choose from and I picked my top 20 favorite. The majority of the songs are from Murmur, so I would say that's my favorite album. Document would be a close second.

Bacon?

Yeah, this is a really stupid thread. It's quite offensive to post something like this on THE Wilco fan message board.. Close this thread please.
-
The only reason Wilco should ever call it quits is if they stop being so damn awesome. I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I was looking for a show that was closest to the date of my first Wilco show since the song choice would be similar and the lineup would be the same (yes I am that much of a Wilco geek). I found 10-29-97, Minneapolis, MN. It's a gem indeed. It's most notable for the live introduction of "She's a Jar". Also it's the last time "Dreamer in My Dreams" was the show closer. 1 Misunderstood True Love Will Find You in the End Forget the Flowers That’s Not the Issue Someday Soon She’s a Jar New Madrid I Got You Someone Else’s Song I Must Be High Passenger Side punk Hotel Arizona Monday Kingpin

I've never been there, but it sounds like the typical 2,000 seat theater venue. There won't be a bad seat in the house. If you've never seen Wilco at a theater, then you'll find that these places aren't really that big.. The sound is good no matter where you sit, and you will be relatively close to the stage no matter where you sit.

Wilco fans announce their love for Pat Sansone

I like the current "Wilco" sound the best, mostly because I've always liked big bands.. You can't beat that huge sound that is produced by 6 musicians. And when they bring in the Total Pros... Amazing.. Close second would be their lineup when I saw them in 97. Jeff, Jay, Ken, John.. That's back when they were just a raw rock n roll band, but just starting to experiment with the kind of sounds you would hear in later albums (Summerteeth, YHF) -
I finally got to watch it (had it tivo'd) and it was indeed fantastic. Stewie taking the cast of Star Trek to McDonald's had me rolling..
