  1. Thanks for the response. I'll check it out.
  2. Can anyone tell me what is the best Beatles forum out there?
  3. I'm starting to understand the whole jigsaw puzzle analogy. I'm enjoying the mono box. They may become my favorite versions. I'm really glad I got both sets.
  4. Got my mono box yesterday. I'll be comparing them to my stereo box to see if all of the mono praise is justified or at least to see if it makes that big a difference to my ears.
  5. Steve and Stacey Earle-When I Fall.
  6. Someone Else's Song Well I can't tell you anything You don't already know I keep on trying I should just let it go I keep on singing Your eyes, they just roll It sounds like someone else's song From a long time ago You already know the story And the chords are just the same You already know I love you And I sound like what's his name But you can't stop me I want you to know I know it sounds like someone else's song From a long time ago
  7. I gotta agree, Real Gone is a great album but my personal fav is Blood Money.
  8. The show was great but the venue sucked. Stubbs is a much better place to see them
  9. If You Leave-OMD If you leave, don’t leave now Please don’t take my heart away Promise me, just one more night Then we’ll go our separate ways We’ve always had time on our sides Now it’s fading fast Every second, every moment We’ve got to, We’ve got to make it last I touched you once, I touched you twice I won’t let go at any price I need you now like I needed you then You always said we'd still be friends someday If you leave I won't cry I won't waste one single day But if you leave don't look back I'll be running the other way Seven years went under the bridge Like time was standing
  10. About the best band ever. Shit, most of the bands that are discussed on this board wouldn't even be here without the Beatles. No doubt they're old news but jesus, they paved the way.
  11. Besides that song was meant to be sung out of tune.
  12. Ok. The father-in-law bought the stereo box instead of the mono. So I've put a down payment on a mono box set at my local indie store. After reading many articles on mono vrs. stereo and hearing the extreme separation on some of the stereo mixes from the stereo box, I've come to the conclusion that one should really own both. I just broke the news to the wife this morning and there were no tears. I don't know if that means she's ok with it or that she's leaving me Anyway, I should have it around mid to late October. I hope it's worth it.
  13. I've never considered them generic. I think they have a distinct sound that was emulated by countless pretenders. I doubt they will ever best their run from Ten through Yeild.
  14. Et tu, Brute? I can comfort myself with the fact that my father-in-law purchased the mono set so I will be hearing them soon. I still can't imagine liking them more than the stereo. I just like music in stereo and these remasters sound great.
  15. That's such a relief. I'm so glad we can at least enjoy the first four albums in stereo. I was afraid I completely wasted my money on the stereo box set.
  16. I am pretty disappointed in the new album. I was hoping for a bigger pay off considering the fact that I risked the wrath of my wife by purchasing this album just two weeks after dropping 200+ on the new Beatles stereo box set. I actually like the avocado, it isn't their best but I think there are some interesting songs on it. I'm twice through on this one and I'm not feeling it. Maybe it's because I've been listening to the Beatles for two weeks but to me there are no memorable melodies on Backspacer.
  17. The NPR podcast from this tour was pretty freakin awesome.
  18. Well now that my father-in-law is getting the mono box I'll be able to compare and decide for myself.
  19. I agree 99.99 percent. I only want to change one sentence slightly."Sooner or later, Jeff will tire of the road. Sooner or later, making records will be more important to Jeff.".
  20. By the way, most of the new vinyl that is being produced these days were recorded digitally and then put on vinyl. I thought the argument was about analog vrs. digital recording. How does this work. How do you change something recorded in ones and zeroes into the "warm" vinyl sound that people are always raving about. Are the young people caught up in the vinyl resurgence being sold a bill of goods?
  21. I agonized over mono vrs. stereo and based my decision on the fact that I prefer Pet Sounds stereo over mono. I like the space that stereo creates. That being said, I just found out that my father-in-law bought the mono set. Sweet trade I think. As far as the ipod debate goes, and I'm sure this is audiophile blasphemy, when I buy a cd the first thing I do is load it into my computer and burn a copy for my car and put the cd up on the rack with the rest of my collection. Most of my listening happens in the car or at work and I'm so paranoid about having my cds stolen out of my car or warped in t
  22. Explain the whole"scanned at" thing. Why is Orphans his first certified gold when it looks like Mule Variations has sold more copies?
