She didn't seem to mind riding his coattails for as long as she could. Granted she was more well known at first but.....

"Are you really going to go on tour with that guy?" What does this mean and who is she talking about. It sounds as if she thinks the idea of touring with Willie or Bob is repugnant.

Just bought Son of Schmilsson and the Pandemonium Shadow Show/Aerial Ballet/Aerial Pandemonium Ballet cds after a good experience with Nilsson Schmilsson. Thanks for the recommendation Pop Todd.

In this economy everyone should be nervous. We'll be getting our music through traveling minstrels pretty soon.

50% off here in Austin. I got Astral Weeks and Nilsson Schmilsson.
-
where can I get it? I didn't think it was out yet.

On its own, I like it. It's an entertaining listen.

I agree with you on these two songs and I have one more to add. I know "On and On and On" is a very personal song for Jeff but the fact that the word yeah is used as part of the rhyme scheme at the end of most of the lines bugs me. I know this is Wilco blasphemy and I apologize.

I thought every album he recorded was a Van Zandt tribute.

Great song. Lukin isn't a bad 1:02 either. And Smile And the rest of the album

No Code was the album that dumped all of the fair weather fans at the time of its release. Intentionally less commercial, it never the less scored big with a lot of hard core fans and because fans of PJ's more radio friendly songs were bitching it made liking the album that much more satisfying.

Come Back is a great song as well as Parachutes. Here it goes 1. Vs. 2. No Code 3. Yield 4. Vitalogy 5. Pearl Jam 6. Riot Act 7. Ten 8. Binaural My ranking of just studio but Live at Benaroya Hall would be right up near the top.
-
I didn't like Riot Act when it first came out but after the s/t album I went back and listened to it again and it grew on me. I tried to do the same with Binaural but it's still my least favorite. Yield was the last album to come out while I was a die hard fan and I still think it rocks. My eighteen year old son makes fun of me for liking PJ.

I'm a fan and I thought Riot Act and Pearl Jam were really good albums.

I second "Sweet Emotion". What's even better is the intro to that song at the beginning of "Dazed and Confused".
-
Throw some hate this way too. I think Friends is a great show.

I did not read every post but I don't think this was mentioned. It gives me chills every time. It's cliche on a Wilco website but Uncle Tupelo's Moonshiner would be my pick. Jay Farrar makes this song sound timeless.

Listen to 'Tell Lorrie I love her' by Keith Whitley. He played this song for Lorrie Morgan on a four track shortly before he died on his house boat of an alcohol overdose. Or so the story goes. Edit: I didn't mean to imply that this is a bad song. I love this song. I was just reminded of this song when I saw 'Tell Laura I Love Her'.

Nah, Pot Kettle Black is a much better song anyway.

Your Mama So Fat when she step on the Weight Scales it says...'to be continued'... she once went on a seafood diet...whenever she saw food she ate it! folk exercise by jogging around her! when she bends over, we enter Daylight Saving Time. she sat on a Nintendo Gamecube and it turned into a gameboy she make Kiko the Whale look like a Smartie NASA plan to use her to shore up the hole in the Ozone layer she was measured at 38-26-36 and that was just the left arm... small objects orbit her. she make olympic sumo wrestlers look anerixic. when I tell her to haul ass, she gotta -

So is Bennet Cormac McCarthy or is Tweedy ? Are they Cormac McCarthy together? Is Cormac McCarthy not a great wordsmith or is he something better? I need some clarification. That's kinda funny. -
For me this year it was Shearwater. Rook dragged me back in.
