Looks like a bunch of adoring fans jumped on this thread. I bought this album a couple of months ago and tried to listen to it at work. It annoyed me so I set it aside. I pulled it out this weekend and listened to it again with no distractions and .....Wow! This album is going to be with me for a very long time. It just clicked. Lush and haunting are two words but the songs really describe themselves. Anyway, I ran out and bought Palo Santo today at lunch. It seems to be more of the same goodness.

Right after Being There came out a friend of mine suggested I pick up a copy. I bought it, listened to it and thought it was just okay. Blood Money Real Gone Orphans(Brawlers) choosing all three Orphans as one would kind of be unfair. I was really disappointed when I bought the soundtrack for the song "Everybody Knows" and found that it wasn't being sung by the guy with the really deep voice. I had to delve deeper to find out who that guy was, but I developed an appreciation for Concrete Blonde. I thought Samantha Mathis was a cutie in that movie. Kind of like a nerdy Winona Ryder.

The Leonard Cohen thread got me to thinking about when I was first introduced to his music. It was through the early 90's movie Pump Up the Volume. I also got into Concrete Blonde and the Pixies after watching it. Wave of Mutilation(UK surf version) is still my favorite Pixies song. Everybody listened to the Eagles where I grew up. I'm not sure why they became so uncool. Also Elton John's 70's output had some good stuff in there imo.
