  1. I highly doubt he is gonna be the Presidential Candidate. But I would not be surprised if he was VP. He will balance out a candidate who is not seen as conservative enough. Bush / Walker 2016 is very likely.
  2. As one of the protesters myself, I am certainly glad I helped him prepare for the Presidency. It boggles my mind how this man is seen by many conservatives as a good candidate for President.
  3. Being from Wisconsin and knowing of Scott Walker very well, he should be raked over the coals for this, regardless what Democrats believe. Scott Walker, his policies notwithstanding, is first and foremost a politician. He eats, sleeps, and breaths the political process. He is very astute when it comes to what goes on in elections. So he knows, for a fact that Obama is a Christian. He knows this because it was a HUGE issue in 2008, remember Jeremiah Wright? You may have had issues with what he said, but he is a Christian pastor. And furthermore, the President spoke at the National Prayer
  4. If you can square your beliefs, while voting for someone with a voting record like Ted Cruz, that is fine. I understand the Presidents and other Democrats records. I can square my beliefs to theirs and feel ok (not great mind you) for voting for them . But when confronted with their records I do not bury my head in the sand.
  5. You did not understand the article. You personally may not believe in these things. However as pointed out by the voting records and actions of the Republican lawmakers you are voting for these things. If memory serves you are from Texas, and if you voted for GOP senator Ted Cruz you voted for some who believes in direct oppoistion to what you stated. These are by his actions as a lawmaker, not necessarily what he believe. If necessary I can point direct details, but you can read his record here: http://www.ontheissues.org/senate/Ted_Cruz.htm. It is also a good resource for any law mak
  6. Obviously you disagree with the article. Pity, comments aside. Other then point 8 (You want government to hurt people not help people), which IMHO stupid argument, can you refute the statements? Heard Rush complaining about this same thing today. So are you against the Net Neutrality regulations? Just curious.
  7. The GOP are the masters of deflection and messaging. They have a large part of our population convinced that they are for less government, smaller taxes. They really are not. They are more for the corporations, rather than the American people. This little article has made the rounds since it was first published. Top 10 Reasons to Vote Republican. I have been seeing it come up lately again. While I think some of it is a little heavy handed, it is interesting.
  8. Our 24 hour news cycle and media obsessed culture might actually do some good in this regards. In the past many of the far right / far left statements by candidates weren't blasted over the airwaves, so people didn't pay attention. Now it fills our days and our screens. We see what idiotic things these people are saying. Such as another great one by GOP Front-runner Scott Walker. In an interview in the National review he actually said his stance on unions would send a single of toughness to ISIS and Putin. http://www.nationalreview.com/article/414183/what-scott-walker-actually-said-larr
  9. It is nice to see that Bill O'Rielly's exaggerated war stories are being dealt with in the same manner ans speculation here, as we did with Brian Williams. http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2015/02/bill-oreilly-brian-williams-falklands-war But honestly who cares at this point? Really interesting this week was the fallout form Rudy Giuliani's comments about the President and the love of our country and the American People. Which if anything belongs in the "That's Racist" thread. http://www.politico.com/story/2015/02/rudy-giuliani-president-obama-doesnt-love-america-115309.htm
  10. Maybe he thought he is running for the GOP nomination. Anyway, I am sure this will be ginned up by the Right as Joe as anti-gay or something. Which is a load of crap. It is a colloquialism that generally mean gay, but also means close friends. I highly doubt the Vice President meant anything by it. The term is stupid. I take more offense to the fact a sitting Vice President said a vulgar term like butt (and the same goes for when he said ACA was a "big fucking deal.") Joe is an extremely smart politician and knows how to work people very well, he just let's his folksy dumb uncle a
  11. Hey looks like we are going to war (or at least the President is trying to get permission for something we have been doing for awhile now). Not surprisingly both sides have issues with the plan. Too broad, not broad enough, etc. Needless to say whomever the President is in 2017 they will have to clean up this mess.
  12. Probably will be replaced by John Stewart, since he is leaving The Daily Show this year.
  13. So that is your opinion, and a fair minded opinion. Having explained it, I can see where you are coming from. But there a segment of the population and media do see this as an ethics issue, and see the need for Brian Williams to be removed from his job because of ethics. But yet, do not cry foul when other anchors misrepresent the truth. This is an issue, this is a problem. We are in a get the other side mentality. Not holding everyone to the same standards.
  14. So it is ok to lie and spread misinformation reported as "News" if you are a 24 hour cable channel, but if you host a half an hour broadcast channel you can't exaggerate an anecdote. There needs to be some level of consistency here. Mark this day in history, I agree with you. Brian Williams is a new reader and I have called him as much through this conversation. Journalism is dead. It is all about entertainment and has been for decades. So if we can agree on that, why are we holding one news reader to a higher standard then others. Why are those on the Right so giddy over tryin
  15. FoxNews is the number one rated cable news channel. Should they not be considered the top of the heap as well? They are not being held to the same standard that Brian Williams has been subjected to. And it is important to remember that Brian Williams is not being criticized for the news he reported, it is an anecdote he told.
  16. Then why is Brian Williams being held to a seemingly higher standard than other news readers?
  17. Unfortunate, but not entirely unexpected. Just wish there was some level of fairness in the attacks of Brian Williams. Whereas, Brian Williams told his lie in non news settings, as the form of anecdotes, there are news outlets and pundits who routinely report falsehoods as actual news, either deliberately or by error. I am not sure why Brian Williams being held to a high standard then other "news" personalities. Also it seems the Right is truly salivating over this. Like the a bringing down the head of the "liberal media." This is what I have a problem with. More to the point, becaus
  18. From a political standpoint, the most interesting story in the recent days is the Netanyahu speech thing. It points out a couple of things, first off the strained relationship between the President and the Prime Minister, but also the hubris by Boehner, in essence trying to exploit the strained relationship. Boehner was not only wrong by not only telling the WH about the invitation, but inviting the PM in the first place. Considering that the PM is in the middle of an election, it is a long standing policy of the US not to have foreign leaders speak when they are running for office. And
  19. You keep wondering aloud if he damaged his reputation or whatnot. NBC currently leads all other nightly news. Ratings are key. If for some reason people stop watching him that is what make NBC remove him. Also you compare this to Dan Rather, which it really isn't. Dan Rather reported news that was untrue. Brian Williams, like Hillary Clinton exaggerated a story to boost their standings or gravitas. But at the same token, before this came out, I did not know that he told the story of him being shot down. I don't think it was a regular thing he mentioned. It is not like his program is c
  20. It seems to be a weird mix. Generally it seems it is the ultra liberal "health food" types that seem to be against vaccines. But yet it seems to be the most right wing politicians who speak out for "choice" in vaccinations. It is really funny how politicians are really tripping over themselves when confronted with the issue, especially the train wreck that has become Chris Christie's campaign.
  21. why seek the approval of these fools, eat what you like.
  22. I really hope Cubs honor him with a Double header on a hot summer day in July. It would be perfect. One of the true class acts in all of baseball.
