Yeah another shooting! Another mentally ill person who bought a gun, legally. God Bless America. Is there some symbol we can remove so this tradegy will never happen again. http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/24/us/louisiana-theater-shooting/ Also got to love this statement by Gov. Bobby Jindal Yeah in other words he is saying, "I am too chicken shit to potentially piss off my GOP base to say anything about guns, can I just go back to running a terrible campaign for president." You know what would have been a good way to "focus on the families." By actually do something to prevent t

yep, that and the China hacking thing.

Whereas that is true many polls do not take in account those who do not have landlines and the majority of those who do not have landlines are young, what you do not take in account is that the young do not vote. 21.5% of eligible voters 18-29 voted in 2014 (http://www.civicyouth.org/21-3-youth-turnout-preliminary-estimate-comparable-to-recent-midterm-years/)and the young certainly do not vote Republican. (http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2014/11/05/as-gop-celebrates-win-no-sign-of-narrowing-gender-age-gaps/) So with the current polls out there I do see it reflective of the current mind

I agree. Awhile back, I posted an article about the 10 reasons to vote Republican. Which touched a nerve with some of the more conservative members of this forum. While admittedly it was click bait and kind of stupid, with the popularity of Trump and the other candidates it brings those points back into question. Trump has said some stupid and down right racist things. Any logical, sane person can clearly see that. But he still is in second place in many polls, even after his McCain thing. So either people don't care what he says or agree with what he says. Also you do not see mu

and Clinton's private emails. You know the only reason Clinton had a private email system was because she knew about the OPM hacking beforehand and didn't want her data compromised.
-
So now that the new cycle has effectively ended on the flag thing and now turned to the OPM thing isn't that what you want? Really the scope of the hack was not officially released yesterday I think. And it was on the news, it may have not been front and center top of the news hour, but it did get coverage. It was not buried, it was covered. It will be continually covered, it will be the main point of conversation this weekend on the Sunday morning talk shows. It is not going away. But then again that doesn't really fit your narrative does it. The one thing for sure this will again

bread and circuses, man. Though to be fair, on many news sights the OPM hack is the top story (as of 12 pm Central)

But I thought racism is now over since the confederate flag is coming down in South Carolina
-
With Trump being an idiot blowhard and saying some truly horrible and offensive things I am surprised he is doing so well in the polls. He is like second in Iowa? Not saying Republicans are racist xenophobes, but there must be something in his message that resonates with them.

I made the mistake of reading the comments from the TheBlaze article about the SCOTUS decision today. Wow, it was a depressing couple of minutes.
-
Here is a flag that has meaning. It also now can stand for Marriage Equality for ALL! Good Job SCOTUS! Today is a great day for America.

Health Care Saved! SCOTUS did the right thing and rejected King v Burwell in a 6-3 decision. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/25/obamacare-supreme-court-decision_n_7346048.html So I wonder if the GOP lead congress will continue on this mantra of repeal. And can anyone really say that this Health Care law has been bad? It certainly has not been the disaster that GOP has proclaimed it would be.

I looked up what Spandau Ballet and if True it is a pretty awful name. Anyway, I think both you and I agree that what is being done about the Confederate Flag is pretty stupid as a response to racism, or the shootings in SC. But one has to remember Synyrd, the Dukes of Hazzard, Amazon, etc. are doing all of this out of public pressure. The government is not telling them they can't sell or use these items. The confederate battle flag is a hateful symbol and has been. Maybe those that have it or display it aren't racist, but they are ignorant of history and its meaning. The flags/symbol
-
Really unrelated to politics or the discussion of racism (or maybe it is) but I have to tell my favorite Skynyrd story. This was awhile back when I was living in Minneapolis. One night drinking in Nordeast we ventured into the 22nd Ave Station. Which is seeminly a regular bar, with a meat raffle and pints of Grain Belt on special. Tucked away in a side room is the strip club area of the bar. So me and my buddies sit down in the bar and do what you do at a strip club. After awhile a dancer gets up and performs. As she dances we notice she has a couple of tattoos on her leg (not an uncomm

Instead of a one word rebuttal it would have been nice to have an actual thoughts on thi, or reasoning. Let me explain why you are wrong. Any semi intelligent person knows the history of the flag, knows the meaning behind it. You look at it and say I am going to wear a t-shirt or put it on your front lawn you are saying "I believe in what this stands for." if you don't believe the flag is racist then you are an idiot and have no sense of history or the power behind symbols. On the Dukes of Hazzard or Skynyrd. I never said watching them makes you a racist. I don't anyone has ever

Interesting the shooting in South Carolina has not received any attention here. I would probably guess it is the fatigue that sets in when tragedies like this happen. Think our political system has come to such a point that nothing will be done again, and things like these will continue happen. Our nation will be outraged, but the outrage will subside. Predictably the left has gone on the gun control issue once again. But truthfully I don't think any purposed gun law would have prevented the shoot form purchasing the gun. Unless of course we rid ourselves of guns entirely, which isn't

Something has to be done about the all star voting. That is ridiculous.

can we talk about hops for a moment? I am of the opinion that a nicely hopped beer is great, as long as the bitterness balances out sweetness of malty flavors. However I getting really tired of the hop forward beers. The ones that shove the hops flavor down your gullet. Super bitter beers just aren't good IMHO. Hops are used in craft brewing to hide a poor product. When used right they are great, but can we just stop with "Hop-tastic" beers. And I hate the hop puns for names. Hopalicous, Hopdinger, Hopalong, Hopwhothefuckcares.

Seriously WTF? http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/17/sports/baseball/st-louis-cardinals-hack-astros-fbi.html?hinytimesluvu&_r=0 At this point I am pretty sure every successful sports team has some how cheated in some way. And if you are gonna hack somebody, you are gonna hack the Astros?

Jesus. That man is a mess. He has no chance of winning the nomination he is there out for his own self promotion and ego. So the debates are gonna be interesting. Not the mess that the actual debates will be. (A drinking game has to be made, a shot for Benghazi, a shot for Obamacare, a shot for Clinton Global Fund!) you'd be drunk after 10 mins). But the thing with limiting the debates to 10 top candidates. You will have a clown like Trump in there possibly bumping the sole woman from the debate. Man that sure does look good GOP. Normally I refrain from name calling of political fi

No one is talking about old Jeb!? Apparently he is getting off the fund raising machine and now actually really running for pres. Even though he has faultered early on, I don't know if he can be stopped. But his logo is really stupid. http://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/elections-2016/jeb-bush/jklrm4/picture24259309/ALTERNATES/FREE_960/logo Amazing that the two front runners are really pushing the first rather than last name. Both carry way too much baggage. If it wouldn't freak out middle conservative America, I bet Hillary would completely drop the Clinton from

I don't know what is worse, insinuating that Lindsey Graham is gay because he is a confirmed bachelor, or referring to him as a "bro with no ho."

The book is called Gumption: Relighting the Torch of Freedom with America's gutsiest troublemakers. Which in the Barnes and Noble description says this: So I don't think Jeff Tweedy's section is at anyway filler. It is a mini bio of a great American. It gives some background, and why Nick thinks he is great. For a super fan such as yourself it is probably stuff you have read a million times. For Joe Schome it is good background. I am sure for a George Washington super fan his bit about him was stuff they have read a million times, but not for the average American. And in full

Have your read the other parts of his book? Or just the referenced passage?

Interesting things coming out of Clinton's camp. She seems to be veering pretty hard to the left. This is probably because of the Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren effect. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/04/hillary-clinton-voting-rights_n_7513858.html While I don't necessarily agree with all of the proposals on voters rights, it is an interesting thing to talk about and discuss. Voter rights should be heavily discussed in this and every campaign. Anybody who is for limited voter access, voter ID laws, etc. should have to explain their position and provide evidence that sup
