I may have not explained myself clearly. One of the main reason people don't vote is because they feel their vote does not matter. This is nearly 2/3 of the country. If these people voted their voice would be heard, the politicians would have to take notice. It is no longer a minority of people that politicians are beholden to, it is the country as a whole. There is some truth to that. But it could be a chicken in the Egg thing. I don't vote cause I don't care. Why don't you care, cause I don't vote. I would love an engaged smart electorate, a lot of the issues we in politics are because people don't care enough to vote. 37% of eligible voters turned out in the last midterm election (2010), and only 54% turned out for a presidential election (2012). This probably mean that close to 2/3 of the population will not be represented at the polls this year. If those 2/3 got out and voted, it would send shock waves through our political system.

Nope, there is a small but vocal minority in this country who will fight any thought of gun control. I actually hope so, but with the long wait between the Championship Series and the World Series and the fact it has not been hyped as much as years in the past, I don't see it. But of course I will be watching.

So the World Series starts tonight. The momentum from the great games in the NLCS and ALCS has waned since it has been almost a week. But I am looking forward to some good games. No one is saying that. It goes to the level of attention and the hyper freak out mode that we are in. It goes to the scale of how many people it affects and our attention to it. You are not coming to the conversation with all of the facts. You pride yourself on watching FoxNews, listening to talk radio, etc. Even when examples of media freakout is presented, you flatly refuse to watch. This media frenzy is my point. Ebola is a deadly dangerous and serious disease. It will cause thousands of deaths. We should be concerned, I don't think anyone is saying we shouldn't be concerned. H

So by your statement, removing suicides from the equation, 10K people die a year from guns. That is still 9,999 more then will die form Ebola. So the level of freak out is justified. And just because you you don't agree with his stance on guns you are willing to throw out the whole tenant of his argument? There are so many things that are more troubling then Ebola, but they are not as scary and won't get ratings.

My point is the media is over-hyping this crisis, as they do with every "crisis." You are a well reasoned person and you have your own thoughts about things, as I disagree with you on many of them, they are reasoned. However you are not the typical American. There is quite a difference between what the CDC and WHO are saying and what is being presented in these news outlets. Just for example note the tone and differences between between the CDC Ebola page and a searches I a did on FoxNews and Glenn Beck's The Blaze. exactly. While this is tragic to everyone involved, this will have no effect to 99.999% of the population. It is all media hype. Ebola is like shark attacks. Something that is scary and something the media loves to report on. But it isn't going to affect you. Interesting "wins" for Wisconsin in the past week with help of the Supreme Court. Not only did they remove all bans to Marriage Equality, they struck down Wisconsin's voter ID law. The voter ID law is more of a halt then a full on stoppage, it does remove the restrictions for voters in the upcoming November election. Which makes the tightly contested race for Governor here even more interesting.

If you hate a band you will say they are not HOF worthy, if you love a band you will see them as HOF material. There really is no perspective, no hard numbers to deal with. If we do that, is Taylor Swift HOF in 20 plus years? Really if anything the RnR HOF is about as un RnR as you can get.

I honestly don't see it. There was a time in my life where I went to a ton of Phish shows and listened to everyone of their albums, and traded bootlegs of various shows. I loved Phish. Though truth be told I grew out of that phase in my life. In short they are a great band. But HOF material? The eligibility requirements are vague and subjective (even more so then sports and other HOFs). I suppose we could argue and argue if they are or are not and never change anyone's mind.
