Stewart had a pretty good bit on McCain and other GOPers response to the current Iraq situation last night.

But we are getting help from Iran apparently. This ain't gonna end well.

I love me some Spoon. Spoon, while formed before the Stripes, did not come to prominence until 2002's Kill the Moonlight, or some might argue 2005's Gimme Fiction. While not a direct influence, without what The White Stripes were doing in 1999 and 2000, there would be no place for Spoon in rock. I guess the crux of my argument is this. Once every one to two decades, rock becomes stale and bloated, and a band comes around and shakes things up. The Beatles in the 60s, Led Zeppelin in the 70s, The punk movement in 80s, Nirvana in 90's, The White Stripes in 2000's. This changes rock music

I am more inclined to listen to Elephant then AGIB. I don't know why. I still like AGIB, but when I am flipping through my phone to listen to something, I hit on the White Stripes more than Wilco, but that just might be my frame of mind at this moment. When the White Stripes first broke out in 1999 Kurt Cobain had been dead for 5 years, the huge rock acts (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins) were becoming almost self parodies, really putting out some sub-par albums (PJ's Yield, anyone?). And the up and new bands, Bush, Dishwalla, Everclear, etc. where just pretty terrible. And s

Hey looks like we are going to war with Iraq again. Maybe the 3rd time is the charm.

I don't think the ultra LP will really change the listening experience, (but in truth I have not listened to the Ultra LP). It is a fun thing to have for people who really like vinyl. Also it is pretty amazing with all of the extra stuff White can keep the Ultra LP at under 30 bucks. I actually think Jack Whites music will hold up in 10 years. And if you look back to ten years ago, The White Stripes Elephant holds up stronger to Wilco's AGIB. As a body of work the truth is that Jack White will be seen as more influential as Jeff Tweedy and Wilco. And of this I will guarantee, Jack Whi

Tony Gwynn dies at the age of 54. Apparently from cancer as a result of smokeless tobacco use. http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2014/6/16/5814710/hall-of-famer-tony-gwynn-dies

All I got in my mind when I see the Sukierae is Vampire Bill from True Blood.

Maybe The Lips are the Mr. Slugworth of music.

Jack White is the Willy Wonka of music

that was pretty cool, thanks for sharing.

I think the President put it pretty clearly when he said this: Mental health is a huge issue and one that needs to be dealt with as part of the problem. However other countries don't seem to have this issue. Yes they have shootings and mass shootings, but not on the level as we do in the US. Again nothing is being done, nothing will be done. The left will say we should limit guns, the right will say you are limiting our freedom. We will shout about it for a couple of days, then another mass shooting. Then the cycle will start up again. I saw this news story and felt a huge sa

You have obviously read this forum right, any time a shooting is brought up it devolves into a shouting match. It is an unfortunate thing that the gun rights lobby and the NRA have worn down the American people to just accept these shootings as a part of daily life. We live in a sad state of affairs.

What the hell are you talking about? I referenced wikipedia for those who might not know what Operation Chaos was.

I am pretty sure Brat will win. It is gonna take a major "can't get pregnant by rape" type of thing for him to lose.

his Cantor's pollster not one of Cantor's people? also assuming you meant isn't not is.

I wonder what Cantor's thoughts were on Rush Limbaugh's Operation Chaos in 2008.
-
Eric Cantor loses in a primary to a TEA party backed candidate. Who would have thought Virginians wanted a more conservative representative. My biggest fear with this is that moderate GOP candidates will swing farther right to save their seat. But it might give a chance for more moderate leaning dems to gain some ground in previously GOP strongholds. I don't think Cantor's seat is in play at all and Brat will likely win, but if it is the Left is really gonna paint him as a far right extremist.

I would bet there is not one poster here who is doing a damn thing about the VA situation (and myself included). Not one phone call made to their representative, not one email sent. Maybe a comment to their significant/friend other along the lines, gee that is too bad. We are so wrapped up in our own shit we don't take the time to give a flying fuck about the VA or veterans. I think that is Lost Highway's point, we pay lip service to Veterans, that is all we do. We praise them one day out of the year, but beyond that it nothing. If every person who went to a parade and stood when the

Let's step back from the edge here, take a deep breath and look at this again. With this arguing about if Bergdahl was a traitor, terrorist or whatnot, have we lost site of the original issue? Should we have made the deal for Bergdahl's release? Prior to the prisoner swap that secured Bergdahl's release we knew this as fact. He was the last remaining POW in Afghanistan. We do know that he went AWOL (possibly deserted?). Yet still many, many people (especially those on the right) said the US should do whatever is necessary to get his release. Intelligence had been working on this pr

The key phrase in your statement here is "so for none of the facts have contradicted the presumption..." See that may be the key difference here. Whereas, before I judge I like to have all of the facts, whereas it seems that you have already judged him and considered him guilty. Which many on the right have done as well. You have labeled him a traitor and a terrorist with half of a story, really that I take issue with. Really why do you want him to have his day in court? I mean sure it is a slam dunk, so why even have a trial? Also you claim he was a deserter, which is actually un

Well yes it is all conjecture, you don't know the whole story. There really isn't anyone who does. But you are ready to condemn a man based upon things that you have read, heard or been told. Hell he might all of those things you suggest, but you don't know, nor do I. You are jumping to a conclusion to fit your narrative. Just as the left did with Zimmerman, it wasn't right when they did it, nor is it right when you do it. If you are fine with living in a world that is so black and white great. Me I prefer to think and gather all facts before I rush to judgement. But then again c

Wow, just wow. Just another example of your rush to judgement before all the facts are known. Nearly, every statement in there is conjecture, but But more on this amazing flip/flop by the Right. In October of 2013 there is an article from FreedomOutpost.com slamming Obama for not doing anything to free Bowe Bergdahl. http://freedomoutpost.com/2013/10/obama-leaves-american-pow-sgt-bowe-robert-bergdahl-rot-afghanistan-provides-excuses/. Most amazingly is this quote: But you know that was Oct 2013, but just go to their page today. You would think that Bergdahl is gonna enter th

Well the treatment of Bergdahl's father in the media; The rush to brandish Bergdahl a terrorist and a traitor before all facts are known; The outrage like this is some unprecedented occurrence and claims that this proves Obama is a terrorist sympathizer; The calls for impeachment. Listen, there are questions that need to be asked, which needs answers to, but why can't wait until all the facts are out there before we rush to judgement? Just playing a hypothetical, say Bergdahl had been killed by the Taliban. You think the Right's response would be, well at least we didn't give up 5 terro
