It is mostly sad really. When the Dems had control of both houses and the presidency they didn't do much to push their agenda and when they did try something big ala ACA it kind of blew up in their faces. Not necessarily the law itself (which IMHO is flawed but over all good), but the reaction from the Right and the American people. It lead to the rise and strength of the TEA party, which moved moderate Republicans farther to the Right. You now have a congress controlled by a group who has an innate unwillingness to work with the President. He is called weak and ineffectual. But when

The far right is extremely vocal and wields a lot of power. It is important to discuss them. Not only do they mostly control the congress, they have a consortium of media outlets. Yes they are on the wrong side of history, but with that much power, it is important to point out their foibles. Also I find it interesting, how truly ignorant they are, it is astounding. Also not getting worked up, just putting ideas on a message board dedicated to a mid level rock band with a solid fan base. Whereas Al Gore hasn't really been in the news for like 5 years. That is weird.

Your obsession with what AL Gore does or doesn't do is kind weird. Lost Highway said it best earlier when he said "It's easy to criticize geologists in SUVs, but that's not really grounds for taking apart their scientific work. Most people who understand climate change in the abstract are not prepared to make the massive life changes to effectively combat it." As for your gun law argument (as something with hard proof that the Left Deines), it is close to what I was trying to get at. BUt really there is has much evidence as such that gun laws do in fact work and do dramatically reduce

really not sure if that is hard scientific proof, leadership experience are subjective.

Quite right, IMHO. It comes to cold hard facts, hypocrisy is one thing, which Al Gore shows in spades, as do many others. Is it brazen, sure I guess, but more a deflection of the real question at hand. In recent years when has the left completely ignored hard proof to further their political agenda?
-
Nice to see Hixler really trying to deflect the conversation rather than trying to come up with a substantive counter. It seems to be the M.O. of those that lean to the right. You have climate change deniers. These deniers are almost exclusively on the right. They refuse to look at proven scientific evidence to suit their own political agenda or needs. This is the same as those who refuse to believe in evolution. Really shouldn't climate change deniers be put in the same camp as those who don't believe in evolution? And yes they should be ridiculed, because they are equally was stup

I said as much in my post. But really has there been anything as brazen as the climate change deniers by the left?
-
I find it real interesting that it is the people on Right are so convinced that they their beliefs are the correct ones, even when presented with undeniable scientific proof. I say it even goes beyond the creationists and Noah believers. Look at climate change deniers. Look at those who keep trotting out the Obamacare "horror stories," and then later fall part under the modicome of scrutiney. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2014/02/25/morning-plum-obamacare-horror-stories-fall-apart-under-scrutiny/ But time and time again these stories are presented as fact and a reaso

Not as dark, yes. Not was well acted? I got to disagree with you on that one. David Tennant was brilliant. Also it looks like American audiences will get to see it soon as well, as they are remaking it for American audiences. And David Tennant is playing the same role (not character since I think he will be American in the show.) Also Skyler (Anna Gunn) from Breaking Bad is in it as well. http://screenrant.com/first-image-gracepoint-broadchurch-remake-david-tennant/

Used to listen to a really right wing preacher on the radio in college. He accounted for the dinosaurs on the ark because they were baby dinos not full grown. So you have that.

Apparently there is a disclaimer attached to the film and all of the promotional materials. Just so we don't offend any of the far religious right, I guess. http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/moviesnow/la-et-mn-controversial-noah-will-now-carry-disclaimer-20140228,0,2975183.story#axzz2vajNwQRm

I am pretty sure that Rust will not make it out of the season finale alive. I am 50/50 on Marty as well.

This might rank in the top 10 of the dumbest things you might have ever said here. This has no basis in fact or reality. And furthermore all the military might in the world didn't stop a group of men with box cutters taking over a couple of planes and killing 3000 people. And one could say that our increased involvement and our overstepping in conflicts around the world has created more people who want to do us harm. I love the GOP how it is all about decrease spending at home, cut this, end this, but when it comes to the military, let's give them trillions, hell we'll even give the

It all come down to choice I guess. Being a Nazi, or in the Catholic Church is a choice. Being gay isn't.
-
Except personality is something you can control. You are not genetically an asshole.
-
Now that Brewer has vetoed SB 1062 (the Anti-Gay bill), the right has predictably lost their collective minds. Declaring this is to be an assault on Christians, against religious freedoms, etc. What I can't understand or wrap my head around is exactly how making a business treat every person the same an assault on Religious freedom? A person is still able to practice their religion, and without this bill you are still able to think whatever you want about anyone. You are just not allowed to discriminate. You have to treat everyone equally. Can anyone spell out how this veto is an assa

prolly should just do away with speed and most traffic laws then.

It's be amazing if the superbowl pulled out.

For some reason my first thought after hearing this is that scene from Full Metal Jacket. Hopefully that will come to other States as well, looking at you Wisconsin. Also what the hell is going on in Arizona? Heard a bit of Hannity trying to rationalize this law. Which made my head spin. My hope is that Jan Brewer will do the right thing and veto it. But she seems kinda flaky and so far right, I don't hold much hope.
-
Journalism at its best I am sure. Though dollars to doughnuts it will be a better interview then Bill O'Riley did before the Superbowl.

Exactly how is this the result of ACA?

How awesome would it be, albeit unlikely, that the other member of Land Ho! is Jay Farrar?

Had a huge arguement with a buddy of mine about the way Jesus looked. He is an extremely orthodox Catholic (doesn't follow the edicts of Vatican II, all his masses are in Latin, etc.) So I was talking about some Discovery channel show about how Jesus really looked. You know dark skin, short curlyish hair, close cropped beard (if any beard at all). Basically the look of someone lived in the Middle East 2000 years ago. Anyway he freaked out at me, and said the pictures that he was shown in HIS Church, were how Jesus really looked. We got into a big argument about it, at one point he calle

As scary as these signs are, I wonder how many people they got to write something down compared to the ones they put up in the article. I doubt only 22 were asked. Also all of the males had some sort of facial hair. I find that weird.
