  1. So saw this pop on the old Bookface today. New Andrew Bird. It is a 7 song EP built around one song, "Pulaski at Night." Mostly instrumental. Have not yet listened to all of it yet. Here it is on Soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/andrewbird/sets/i-want-to-see-pulaski-at-night
  2. Come on guys, this Hixter bashing is really unnecessary. There is no reason for it. I perfer to hear from the man himself. Putting words in his mouth is just wrong.
  3. Yes we do, mostly so I can avoid it at all costs. Then I do not need to waste my time ever thinking about this man again.
  4. I have seen several stories like that as well, but it seems that every time an "Obamacare horror story" comes out it is quickly debunked, with very little investigative journalism. So when I read ACA horror stories, you will have to excuse my skepticism. But you know it easier to just print something without actually following up, or anything. I don't think I have ever doubted that there are liberals in the media and quite possibly in a greater numbers then conservatives. But what I have always questioned and refuted is that the media product is biased towards liberals and have an ag
  5. Really loved me some Arthur Brown in college. Nothing like some psychedelic funk to get you through the day.
  6. I really wonder, and I have mentioned this before, what the real cost of these new health plans are, and if in the long run they are actually more expensive. To my knowledge there has been no critical analysis of plans, coverage, deductibles, etc. For example say a current "junk" plan is less than an ACA market plan. But your junk plan has a high deductible, lifetime limits, etc, in the long run it could be cheaper. The letters from the insurance companies do offer new plans, but it not like the consumer has to take these plans. It really behooves them to shop around the ACA Marketplace
  7. Did you happen to read my above mentioned article by chance?
  8. The GOP on this issue reminds me of the school yard bully, who trips the nerd and then asks why they are so clumsy. ACA has had some deep roll out problems and the media has focused on them, the "you can keep you healthcare plan period" line was unfortunate and one PBO would probably like back. But really it is far more nuanced than that. But hey let's all go by the media's assessment of the situation. I urge you to read the following article http://thedailybanter.com/2013/11/another-obamacare-horror-story-debunked-and-no-the-president-didnt-lie-about-the-law/. Which really does go abo
  9. So let's have the free market sort it out. If you can't afford health insurance, hey go to the ER and get charged even more. Still can't pay? Oh hey that is ok, insurance companies will just raise the rates on everyone who can pay. Those who can pay will pay for those who cannot. This is the system we have (or at least ACA), this is the free market acting as socialism. It is like me going into a grocery store and telling them I can't afford food, so they rise the prices for everyone else. What ACA does it has everyone pay into the system to lower the cost for everyone. I agree th
  10. Yep the whole thing has been such an f'ing disaster. Guess the only option left is single payer.
  11. I loved Byrd when he was a Cub. Not necessarily the best player out there, but he always plays with heart and moxie. He did have a good line last year (.291 with 24 home runs and 88 RBIs in 147 games). When people complain about signings you need to ask, who else you gonna get? Really 2 years at 16 million is a pretty good deal.
  12. Night of the Doctor - Prequel to the 50th Anniversary Special. Questions are already answered.
  13. I think the key is that Turner Field needs $150 - $200 million dollars in improvements to make it viable for baseball in the future. I think the team ownership see a better deal that will cost them less and make them more in the long run. Turner field was not all that good to begin with IMHO.
  14. If this site get's translated to Spanish, I demand equal time and make sure it get's translated to Elvish.
  15. I know that Alan Colmes announces the number of military wounded or killed in action on his radio show weekly. I think the milestones are important and should be read on the news nightly and featured prominently on every major news site. It is a shame that it is not. But to bring it to another thread that is out there it contracts the notion that War = Fun. Also I see you implying something about the "liberal" media again. Which as you know I think is pure bull. But the reason we don't get the announcements of the grave milestones as we had during the Bush era is because of war fatig
  16. I feel as a larger point is being missed here. I think everyone here can agree that Benghazi was a tragedy. I dare say any loss of life of Americans overseas is a tragedy. So the question that needs to be asked was there a failure in protecting the embassy in Benghazi. Not, was there a massive cover up to fool the American people into voting for Obama in 2012. It seems to me that the GOP cares more about the the cover up, rather than what we need to do to better protect our embassies in the future. And further to the point, it is apparent that attacks on Embassies happen and have happ
  17. So what you are saying is that really the only way to get the legislative body of our government to work with the executive branch is to either get the TEA party out of there or elect Rand Paul as president.
  18. I don't see a scenario where Christie is elected without the GOP controlling the House. With the current state of gerrymandering it is going to take a lot people to vote Democrat to have it flip, which means they are increasingly dissatisfied with GOP politics, which makes them less likely to vote for a GOP candidate for president.
  19. Feel that reason Obama's presidency has been watered down pretty much because the House refuses to work with him, or support any of his ideas, for fear of giving him a win or making it look like his policies helped the country in anyway. What makes you think Christie would have an equally watered down administration? With that being said the house races in 2014 will have a huge effect on what happens in 2016.
  20. I don't know if I would know who to vote for then Chris Christie win is very interesting. His victory speech was more like the kickoff to his 2016 Presidential bid. I don't know much about him other then the glowing reports from the media and his actions after Superstorm Sandy last year. Admittedly I am a pretty dyed in the wool progressive, however there might be part of me that would consider voting for the man just because I think somethings might actually get done in our government. Almost assuredly the House will be controlled by the GOP in 2016 (thank you gerrymandering), so I be
  21. I simply find it unsettling to watch the Today Show. I was pretty sure they stopped doing in the news about 5 years ago.
  22. was out with my son's cub scout den yesterday and the kids (ages 9-10) were talking in detail about guns. Very specific details about the size, type, and which would do the most damage. I asked out of curiosity how they knew this and they said from Call of Duty. This type of talk goes beyond using your finger or stick to play guns. As full disclosure I don't let my son play Call of Duty so he was pretty much clueless on the conversation.
