  1. I have been wondering about this for awhile and Ryan actually brought it up this weekend. The perceived liberal media bias. Ryan gave an interview with FoxNews and in it he talked about the bias that media has. http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/fox-news-sunday/index.html#/v/1869261696001/exclusive-paul-ryan-on-fox-news-sunday/?playlist_id=86913 But failed (or did not want) to site an example of where the media is biased. So I am interested, do any of you think there is a true media bias out there? Other then the obvious MSNBC, FoxNews, etc. Looking at the broadcast channels, CBS, N
  2. Yep, kinda of the problem when a handful of people steer a thread to something that many don't really care about. Now I said if you don't want to read about it then just skip it. But now it has generally turned me off of this thread. You know generally you [Tweedling] have been pretty reactionary in this thread (insomuch that you react to what is said rather then seeking out reactions/comments). Since it is so boring here, now is your chance. Tell us why you think Romney is better served as our next president then our current president. I really hate it when people complain and do nothi
  3. When I see a post by Sparky I scan it and if I see the word Federal or Reserve I skip it. I don't think it is important to the presidential election, regardless of the ranting of Sparky. But it is my choice to skip it. Just as Sparky rarely ever comments on the things that I post. Sparky is free to post what he wants, you are free to totally ignore him. I find it a lot easier (though at times it is annoying to scroll for so long). So yeah if Sparky wants to go nuts with the Fed is fine. If you don't like just ignore it. So the first debate is in a couple of days. I am planning
  4. If you don't like PBO because he is black that is racist. If you post a video of a person saying something stupid because they are black then that is racist. Now there is no way for me to look into that videographer's heart and tell if he is racist. But what is the purpose of posting this, other than to make a generalization about people who support Obama. From the article: Needless to say the importance of this video (or the person who posted this) being racists is kinda inconsequential. It is how it has been used by Rush, FoxNews, Hannity, the Drudge report, et al. that could be con
  5. The woman is an idiot. She is on par with those on the right wing who think Obama is a Muslim socialist. I don't know why she thinks that, I am sure the same misinformation that caused Rush, Drudge, Hannity to think the same thing. Is the video racist, I guess that depends on how you view it. I have always felt and object of any kind cannot be inherently racist. It is how a person views it and understands the subtext, which makes it racist. Do I think the video itself is racist, no. Do I think the person who made is racist, absolutely.
  6. All this Fed back and forth is too heady for me to follow. Apparently we are headed for a financial meltdown of epic proportions. But there is nothing we can do about it. So when it comes I say we all travel to Sparky's house and seek protection in in his newly formed republic. So until then how about this for fun Friday viewing: (caution video very loud and annoying) Oh wait no he is not Go about your Fed talk now.
  7. Amazon.com has a bunch of Hal Hartley's stuff. Including instant renting options for many of his films (though you might have to be a prime member) http://www.amazon.co...l hartl,aps,787 I studied him in film class in college, but beyond that I never really fell in love with his stuff. Apparently his last film was Meanwhile in 2011 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1748113/
  8. There is no secret I love out gaffes, misstatements and lies by Romney and Ryan. I do this for a couple of reasons, first to show how RR willfully deceive the American public, second to show the shear ineptitude of GOP ticket, and lastly because I think it is fun and it can at times get interesting conversations going. Here is a recent "gaffe" by Paul Ryan, with commentary form Maddow's Blog. Which I hope sparks all three of my reasons. http://maddowblog.msnbc.com/_news/2012/09/27/14124144-paul-ryan-declares-dont-feed-fish?lite For those of you who don't want to read Maddow's blo
  9. In 2008 I saw Wilco play a small rally (500 people or so) in Madison WI for Obama. It was awesome.
  10. But to look at what the GOP is doing, voter ID, voter purge etc. it seems a bit more nefarious and underhanded. I said it before, the GOP will try to win the election by hook or by crook.
  11. You know what I have always found funny (in a peculiar sort of way) that those that lean left seem to want to make it easier for everyone to vote and those that lean right tend to want to make it harder to vote.
  12. I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB THAT WILL ACCEPT PEOPLE LIKE ME AS A MEMBER - Groucho Marx
  13. He has never been charismatic. He has been always been stiff and hard to relate to. He have always seemed to me to be a robot sent by an alien race to win the presidency. I am particularly interested in his speech today at the Clinton Global Initiative. I wonder how the crowd will react to him and what he says. And generally when foreign policy and Mitt Romney come together hilarity ensues. And if I may, to counter any arguments, I think it showed a lack of understanding by PBO not to meet with world leaders today. As a reference, last year PBO met with 13 world leaders. If this
  14. Assuming you mean the Power of 3 right? It seemed like a hold over from the RTD era. With the news clips explaining things, to the Dad figuring things out. It also felt a bit jilted themematicly from the first 3. We increasingly where getting a darker Doctor and this one felt light.
  15. So which Mitt Romney comment would you guys like to talk about more? http://thehill.com/opinion/columnists/karen-finney/251381-romneys-er-care http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/mitt-romney/9564529/Mitt-Romney-why-dont-aeroplane-windows-open.html
  16. Yes both parties blame the the other for their part in the deficit. But last I checked the Dems aren't running ads saying we need to stop deficit spending. The GOP claims to be the party of financial discipline. They use this to fool the American people. To bad it, is nothing more than a myth. The hypocrisy on this issue lands squarely in the lap of the GOP.
  17. Believe me Louie I know. I was hoping for those that lean to the right, try to explain it to me. Or at least acknowledge the hypocritical nature of the argument being made by the GOP.
  18. Living in Wisconsin, I am subject to a lot political ads, especially from Paul Ryan. His ads constantly harp on the Debt and the spending by PBO. Which made me wonder, can someone tell me why deficit spending is now a big problem that needs to be stopped, when just a few years ago the GOP (especially Ryan) didn't seem to care. I feel the GOP and Ryan needs to be honest with the American people and say, that if it is a program he likes deficit spending is ok, if it is something he doesn't like deficit spending is bad.
  19. Thanks for that. Though since the majority of your polls have a sampling size of 1000, I hope that you can concede that a 1000 is a fair and average sample size for an poll. I have never liked Rasmussen (the most common poll cited), as a poll for the sole reason in their methodology the use online surveys to try to reach people who have abandoned land lines. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/about_us/methodology Isn't it funny when we don't like a poll we attack the poll taker rather then the information provided. You did it with mine, and now I am doing it with yours.
  20. In no way do I want do I want people to see things my way. No, I want them to to think for themselves, or at least critically think about things. We live in a bumper sticker world. Hope and Change, No Child Left Behind, You didn't build that, so on and so forth. It is bad, we have lost the ability to think for ourselves. We are subject to whatever media outlet suits our cause, be it HuffPo, The Blaze, Rachel Maddow, FoxNews or Rush Limbaugh. I am subject to it as much as anyone. I mean hell I was totally duped by the middle class is less than 200K thing. Which, actually through honest
  21. So yeah, I guess the whole Romney campaign is biased on partial Obama quotes taken out of context. This is what he actually said: The GOP from day 1 has made its goal to make sure Obama is a one term president. Not to help the American people. So with trying to work with a group like that, I can see why he said what he did. The only way he could get things done is by using the American People to speak out. I really thought the Romney campaign was going to focus more on the issue and substance. I guess it is back to using partial quotes. Speaking of which Sparky Tweedling posted
  22. I am glad I could bring a smile to your face. Tweedling did infer I was getting a bit heavy with my posts.
  23. huge fan of dominos, I play a bastardized version of Mexican Train called Chicken-Foot. Also love me some Uno and Yatzee with my son.
