thanks for the recommendation. Really liking this one. Can't recall ever hearing of these guys.

It's January 15th and I guarantee it's on my top 5 for the year. Hell, hope it isn't. If there is 5 albums better than this in 2010, it will be a damn good year.

Good answers here. Stereo/Mono is a slam dunk. That said, if you like Westerberg, you will devour his entire catalog.

so true

1) Dan Auerbach - Metro - Blew away my expectations of the show. Hacienda opened and killed. 2) Avett Brothers - House of Blues - hung with some fellow VCers great energy and great set despite girls screaming like they were seeing the Beatles in the 60's. Did lack some banjo though. 3) The Evening Rig - Turf Club - one of the few roadtrips I took this year. Still confused as to why these guys aren't a bigger deal outside of MN. 4) Jason Isbell/Justin Townes Earle - Double Door - JTE's voice can't be topped and Jason has truly grown into a lead man. 5) Wilco - UIC - Went last minute af

Really nice recording of Vic and John Keane at Bertis Down's home over at Southern Shelter. Southern Shelter

you've been sanctified (terrorized) and I've been tried guilty by association you've been canonized and I've been fried guilty by association all the little loonies with a salient obsession come out from the boonies with their sharpies and their guns loaded with questions

This is awful news. I've had the chance to see him live a couple of times and he is a talented performer and has a great sense of humor. I sure hope he pulls through. VICVIBES!

Good description...nothing amazing jumped out at me yet but a nice album to listen to. Need to give it some more spins. I've liked the bulk of what Dangermouse has done with the rock world. Attack and Release alone puts him on a pedestal.

the place was a dump and definitely deteriorated near the end but some extremely memorable shows. Jeff played solo fairly regularly on off nights to pay the rent. My favorite shows were a Jayhawks "secret" show, Golden Smog on New Years Eve and that last Wilco show. The place was packed and the band was very loose. There is a great recording of that show if you don't already have it.

AGAIN! Hyperbole alert but this may be a masterpiece of some sort.

Looks like a photo from Turf Club! I like the sound. Good groove and they sound like they'd be a blast to see live.

For me, he is without question the artist that I lost too prematurely. I don't think this guy was even close to his peak...and that is saying something with his output. Not a week goes by where I don't listen to him in one form or another.

Maybe your definitions of 'hipster' aren't aligned?
-
they are trying to say that hipsters aren't going to admit to liking these 10 albums.

Hope it's a great one Kyle. Why don't you try and listen to some music or something.

I'll have to try that Danny Balis album. Never heard of him. I do like the Willie album as well at the Pearl Jam. The Rhett Miller I have had since it came out but don't think I've listened all the way through as of yet. I'll have to try and give that a shot now that new releases have slowed a bit.

Agreed... I had to make some tough calls to remove some stuff from my ipod to fit this one on. Can't drive around without it.

I'm loving it... Hombre Lobo tied me over until this comes out. Thoughts?

He really is something. That is great stuff. I'm sure nobody will feel cheated on their money and it's a great charity. (even if he is going to ruin Wilco)

Based on what I heard Jeff said at Second City, I don't see any possibility of these guys ever getting back together. Possibly the occasional tour with Golden Smog but Wilco is no more.
