  1. Yeah, I know that it's John and I really like his voice.
  2. Hey, I need the help of all of the equally obsessed on here to help me find something. I remember from a while back there was streaming concert, or a video file of a whole Wilco concert where they performed "It's Just That Simple" live. It wasn't very long ago and the version was really good. Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? And if you do, a link? Or an audio file? I'll give you a cooooooooooooookie.
  3. Okay, so, I find myself finding tiny miniscule parts in songs that for some reason really kill me, in the way that it really gets me emotionally for some reason. A phrasing, a combination of notes, a specific guitar lick, a vocal inflection, anything. Am I the only one? Here are a few examples of mine: Wilco - At My Window Sad and Lonely 0:50 The way Jeff sings "Do you ever think of me my darlin'?" for some reason always sticks out to me and is just so beautiful. George Harrison - If Not For You 2:39 The way George goes up on the line "Nowhere at all" for some reason just always st
  4. I would agree with your friend. This is an absolute beauty of a record. The songs flow together perfectly. It's one of my all time favorites. I think you'll enjoy it greatly.
  5. 1. I am trying to break your heart: At least that
  6. I'm a really big Stripes fan and I was just horribly disappointed in this performance. It just sounded like garbage. I thought Jack's usually unique and awesome voice sounded bored and horribly out of tune. And meg...I'm a meg fan, but just....probably better if that didn't happen. Just all around disappointing. It felt phoned in.
  7. I don't deny his contributions by any means. I just think he's a cocky guy and I'd rather not see him perform with Jeff. Plus, I think some of those co-writing credits are a little overblown, but that's just IMHO.
  8. I guess I just don't understand why anyone would want them to get back together. Personally, I just can't listen to Jay talk anymore after seeing him in IATTBYH. The between song banter would make my want pull all the hair on my body out. He's a good musician yes but I would much rather see tweedy solo than tweedy with jay. Hell, I'd rather see a dead rabbit inappropriately touching himself then a jay solo show. The guy had an ego problem when there was absolutely nothing to have an ego problem about. ...good guitar player though.
  9. I've always really enjoyed "We're All Light" Some star sneezed now they're paging you in reception. brilliant.
  10. Does anyone know of a way to obtain the actual concert recording of Evangeline (aka The Last Waltz) from the Band's Last Waltz? Any help would surely be appreciated.
  11. I guess just using both common sense and my ears I would say that "We can't be flown" makes more sense logically and that's kind of what I've always heard anyway. I can't wait to hear this song on record.
  12. I think is really funny because I find the string arrangement to be a thing of beauty that only enhances the song. To each his own though, great song regardless.
  13. Cool topic. I would probably start with "Hell Is Chrome" because it always conjures up such a great image with "The air was crispy like sunny late winter days" I always thought that was a brilliant line because everyone knows what he's talking about. "How To Fight Loneliness" for some reason (and I have no idea why) always make me think of the way wet, snow soaked shoes make imprints on wood floors. "Venus Stop The Train" sounds like a very wintery type song that might play in your head as you're sitting watching the snow fall. Same with "Say You Miss Me" That's all I've got for ri
  14. Dunno how I overlooked this one, brilliant.
  15. That's probably my favorite by far. Runner(s) up include: So sing your praise of progress and of the Doom Machine, The naked truth is still taboo whenever it can be seen. Lady Luck, who shines on me, will tell you where I'm at, I hate myself for lovin' you, but I should get over that. - Dirge Someday everything is gonna be different when I paint my masterpiece. -When I Paint My Masterpiece
  16. I'm a huge Wilco fan and there is no way I could get down on this song. Regardless of the content, it's catchy as all hell, and it's a fun little song. I don't get why people are getting so down on it. It's a good tune. Not their best obviously, but it clearly wasn't meant to be. If they put it on a record, I'd buy it. Because I like their music.
  17. A question to all... Is Freedy Johnson really our old pal Leroy Bach? methinks maybe.
  18. I just saw the movie tonight and yelled "holy shit, this is Wilco" out-loud when it started playing, meaning to say it only in my head. That being said, I think if one were to pay attention to what Bill was actually saying in the movie and watched his show on HBO, they'd know he basically comes from the standpoint of being skeptical of people who believe they know for sure. He's selling doubt, as he says. He's not anti god I don't think, He's anti stupidity. He's anti certainty and he's anti pointlessness. Good movie for sure, but frightening. I can't believe how many people are nuts...
  19. I'd like to take "Another Man's Done Gone" if this is still a thing.
  20. Both of these albums have amazing closing tracks. On and On and On is easily one of the best Wilco songs, check that, songs in general ever written. And Wanted is so amazing. It's one of the most underrated songs I've ever come across. The lyric "She's not so well rounded, she has points you don't see" is fucking brilliant.
  21. Alright, so in watching the webcast from lola of Wilco, I was SO amazed to see them play "It's Just That Simple" I forgot how great of a voice John has. So here's the question... Does he remind anyone else of Rick Danko from the Band? Great voice, great bass playing, and mysteriousness about him. Some of those shots while he was singing reminded me so much of the Last Waltz. I'm really glad they did that. John is a great band member and yet another reason to love Wilco.
  22. Great question. These are three of my favorite bands and any Bee Gee's hating is too bad. They are a fantastic band. Bee Gees: Run To Me/The Singer Sang His Song Beach Boys: Wouldn't it be nice (vocals only version)/You Still Believe in Me Kinks: Victoria/Apeman
