  1. Looking to fill a few spots in my fantasy league on Yahoo. PM if anyone is interested and I'll invite you. As a Tiger fan, I'm really hoping the Johnny Damon signing works out. Boras sure knows how to play people like a fiddle, and willingly so. Detroit knows it's being sold something it didn't want, but not it's clear we need it. He'd be a solid leadoff hitter and luckily, in left field, you don't need to be a great defender. I just wish we could put Guillen back at shortstop and end the Adam Everett shame-dance that is going on. The guy can't hit his weight. What Guillen lacks in defensi
  2. Bump! Did anyone ever find someone ripping the audio off of these videos? Would love mp3's of the whole album...
  3. Thanks for the responses Moss. I think Robbie Robertson (although it has been said a trillion+ times) is a really, REALLY underrated songwriter. Even his solo material which people seem to write off, is pretty good actually. I guess because I'm kind of sickly obsessed with The Band, I'll always have a soft spot for it. Although, I will say, his first solo album especially is really great. If anyone who is reading this hasn't checked it out, I suggest you do so. The verse I guess is pretty self explanatory. The chorus I think is something like this: E F#m (sounds good if you keep t
  4. Haha as soon as I saw it had Jay under "co-founder of Wilco" the first thing I thought was the people at VC are going to have a fit. I was pleasantly surprised to see him in the "In Memorial" section though.
  5. Hello everyone, I'm having trouble figuring out the Chord changes in the song "Breakin' the Rules" off of Robbie Robertson's Storyville album. I know some of you enjoy a challenge, so I thought I'd pose this one. If anyone is in need of the song file, I can e-mail it to you asap. Please, let me know if you're interested, as I am playing a show and need the chords. Thanks!
  6. So let me ask this question that I'm sure has been covered... Do we want to get together a 2010 via chicago MLB fantasy league?
  7. So, I know some of you take pride in your web-browsing prowess, which is something I used to do too, up until this point. I am looking for a certain mp3 but I cannot find it to save my twig and berries and it is killing me. So, where else do I turn? The fine people at VC who may be able to help me locate my lost little obsession. What am I looking for, you ask? I am looking for Annie Lennox's version of Paul Simon's song "Something So Right" but not the version from her album Medusa. After the album was released, Annie re-recorded the song WITH Paul Simon, and her record company released it
  8. I know I'm a late party attender, but who gives a shit? 1. I CANNOT STAND RADIOHEAD. I think Thom Yorke is a whiny stuck up little boy, with a gigantic ego problem. 2. I just don't get Led Zeppelin. What is the appeal? 3. Freddie's voice is incredible, but Queen is vastly overplayed. 3.5. Nirvana just plain sucks. Stop whining and grow up, Kurt. 4. I hate these band names like "We Were Promised Jetpacks" and all this other pointless bullshit that end up on Hype Machine. Come to think of it, I hate that people get their music from something called "Hype Machine". The more obscure t
  9. Well, this should be interesting....here we go: (Was I) In your dreams - Wilco (Good start) Friend Like Me - Aladin Soundtrack (oh god, here we go) How - Lisa Loeb (she's gorgeous, what do you want from me?) But I'm Not - Cocetau Twins Frank's Wild Years - Tom Waits Green Fields, Golden Sands - Yusuf Baby Be Mine - Michael Jackson (who?) My Baby - Janis Joplin Skin is, My - Andrew Bird She Made a Wreck Outta Me - Joel Plaskett Crusin' - Coolio Raining in my Heart - Rick Danko Waltzing Matilda - Dan Zanes and Debbie Harry Untitled - Wayne Shorter Break Sumthin' - Ludacris You Real
  10. So, I'm sure we've all seen pictures of Jeff playing the guitar with "Wilco" on the fretboard. I think the best picture I've seen of it is in this Wilco Book. Google is NOT helping me find a picture of it right now... Anyway, I'd like to do something similar to my guitar (obviously not put Wilco on it though, how sick do you think I am?). Does anyone have any ideas of how he did this, or how this can be done cheaply in a DIY kind of deal. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  11. hmmm I think I for sure like the AGIB version better but that might just be because I'm so used to it, though. They're sort of very different in a way so it's hard to pick one. I also feel this way about the version of Hummingbird from the Wilco Book cd. I actually think I like that version better than the one that appears on AGIB. All versions are great though.
  12. This is the answer. Although I prefer the full one "One wing will never fly dear, neither yours nor mine I fear we can only wave goodbye"
  13. Unfortunately though, the sounds at the RO music theater is horrendous. Hopefully our boys can still pull off an awesome show.
  14. Myself, my friend, my sis, my dad and my cousin will all be attending as well. Very excited! I'll be the fat guy there, so come say hi. haha
  15. So, I'm on my third time through and this album is really growing on me beautifully. I do think though, and this is just an observation (neither positive or negative) that this album is very "Produced" sounding at some points. I'm not sure produced is the right word, but a whole lot of it sounds very slick, very smooth. Most of the harmonies are right up front and perfect, rather than being not 100 percent on, yet adding character on their other albums. It gives the whole album, a different feel, a different sound, which I guess is why an artist puts out new albums. As a whole, I'm re
  16. Glad. So far, I'm loving this album. It has such a different feel then what I expected. Upon first listen, I really love Everlasting Everything and Deeper Down. One Wing was great, but different than what I expected. Anyone else listening to the album for the first time?
  17. Sad news. I always felt Jay was sort of searching for something that no one and nothing could give him. I'm sorry for his family and inner circle. Thanks for being part of one of my favorite bands.
  18. God I love the Red Wings, but god the fucking NHL is a joke.
  19. We should have/could still get a Via Chicago fantasy league together. Unless there already is one and I'm just left out because I'm fat. Is it because I'm fat? Go Tigers!
  20. Here's a weird question: I've always loved "My Darling" Is that Jeff singing lead on it? It doesn't really sound like him, (although I really don't think it sounds much like Jay that much either). The phrasing doesn't really sound like Jeff, neither does the inflection. Could it be Jay? Or a unison lead? I know on the Summerteeth demo's it's clearly Jeff. Any thoughts?
  21. Nice to see Robbie Robertson mentioned four times...I think. So now I'll put my .02 in: Robbie Robertson
  22. Same deal, I'll send you one in the mail if you want.
  23. Message me with your shipping address and I'll send you a burned copy of the CD.
  24. Alright, So I'm a big Paul Simon fan. I've always really liked the song "Mother and Child Reunion" (and the fact that it was named after a chicken and egg dish. Think about it.) After several listens to this song I realized that, I think, the first verse might be about the breakup of the Beatles. Reasons why: It came out in 1972 soon after the public breakup of the Beatles. The first verse goes as follows: Oh, Little darling of mine (possibly a reference to the same "little darling" in Here Comes the Sun) I can't for the life of me remember a sadder day (then the day the Beatles cal
