  1. Alright, well, regardless of what I or anyone else has said, After a week of including this in my regular listening, this song is not bad at all. It's certainly not their best song, but it's not bad under any circumstances. It's catchy, and has a pretty good groove. I don't know, I'm just not convinced it's so horrible.
  2. Wow, it's life? I always thought it was laugh and always loved that line. Good either way though. Great, underrated wilco song.
  3. Glad you agree. The bad thing is, I love every other line in that song. I just don't think it fits. It's not even that it's a bad line, but it even sounds forced in the song. Methinks anyway.
  4. The only line in any wilco song I don't like is: "Take off your band aid 'cause I don't believe in touchdowns." I just...I don't know. But most other lines that were mentioned here I like. However though, the worst Wilco lyric is still better than the best Bon Jovi lyric.
  5. I like the mix of Wilco and BB on the albums. I think, although he's an ass, they work together, at least in the context of being on the same album, very well. The Unwelcome Guest is easily the most moving song on the album, and Jeff and Billy's voices sound great together. Another Man's Done Gone is the perfect lead in, also. Way Over Yonder in the Minor Key is really great too. I think everyone should enjoy the album as it was released. The Bragg songs may not be as good as the Wilco ones, but they are still great songs.
  6. I enjoy all of the Smog albums, even the songs Tweedy didn't write. I highly recommend them.
  7. After the Goldrush, Harvest, On the Beach, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere and Unplugged are all fantastic. Harvest Moon too. They're all good. Neil is fantastic.
  8. Great! and maybe Ellen Page will actually be FUNNY the second time around. I doubt it. /Hated Juno.
  9. I think both JOR and Ryan Adams are both great songwriters in their own right. I think Ryan is a better poppy country songwriter but it doesn't make him any less of an artist than Jim. I also think that he was just goofing around in the video. Then again, if he in any way questions Tweedy's talent as a fantastic songwriter, I think he's a moron. Then again, who gives a shit what I think?
  10. I'm a big fan of both the Dan and Wilco. It's got a very SD feel, for sure like Change of the Guard but nothing too rip-offy. At first I was iffy on this song, but the more I listen to it the more I really like it. Perfect B side. As usual with Wilco, it takes a few listens and then you get how great it is.
  11. Thanks for the up. I didn't like Leave me like you found me at first, but now I enjoy it quite a bit. I don't think there is a bad song on SBS.....or any other Wilco record for that matter. The worst Wilco song is still better than the best Bon Jovi song.
  12. Shit! You're completely right. That is the definitive recording of that song and might just be the best recorded performance of anything ever.
  13. I would take Rock of Ages over the Last Waltz any day. Just for the version of "Unfaithful Servent" Danko's voice is amazing.
  14. Since there was so much interesting discussion on the songs we talked about in the Tweedy in the Times article, I thought it'd be fun to continue it. Maybe someone could suggest a song and we could all give our take on it? Any one else interested? If so, suggest a song and leave your comments! If not, fuck me.
  15. The Band is my favorite group outside of Wilco and The Beatles. I agree, Robbie has some ego problems but wow is he a fantastic songwriter. As far as I know, there is 2 versions of the DVD with the second one only adding remastered sound and no new notable footage, maybe a jam or two. There is a 4 disc CD set and I think a 2 disc. It's worth it for the extra stuff, like "Down South in New Orleans" and everything. Listen to how great Levon's drumming and vocals are. His performances are the only things that are completely live. Everything else has been edited at some point during the concert.
  16. That's exactly how I feel about War on War. I love the upbeat nature of it too. I love how he can sing about something so devistating but with such an uplifting tone. It gives you hope sort of. I'm glad you feel that same way. That line in Ashes of American Flags is just pure emotion. If I could sum up all of my panic and depression issues in one line, this would probably be it. I love that he was able to sum up 2102394820394823049823 emtions and issues in one, perfect line. After I heard it, I was like "WOW All my lies ARE only wishes and I WOULD die if I could come back new." It's nice t
  17. You nailed most of them on the head that get me too. Even "War on War" with the lines "You have to die if you want to want to be alive" and "You're gonna lose. You have to lose." are just, well I don't know. Something about the way that's said digs deeper than any passing person might think. There is something about the way he accepts those things as he sings them, that makes them tragically, heartbreakingly beautiful. Hell is Chrome for sure The last verse of Hate It Here, when he ends with "'cause I know you don't live here anymore". Jeff has such a way of breaking your heart but keeping
  18. I suffer from those kind of things too. I think the way Jeff brings together lyrics and music kind of, it makes you feel like how you feel when a Panic attack is over. Confused, relieved, scared, grateful and just very lucid. Wilco is a fantastic band but I do think people who suffer from these type of psychological issues can relate to the music. It's just very...good, as you all know. Wow. did that make any sense?
  19. Ahhhh! The wilco book is where I saw it. Thank you very much. I'll have to go dig it out right now.
  20. The thing that caught me most about Wilco at first were how beautiful Jeff's melody writing was/is. He can take a song and no matter how much they distort it with sounds and instruments, it's still breath-taking. The second thing I noticed was how great the lyrical content of the songs are on every Wilco record. But the reason I think most of us love them, is a combination of the two. Jeff has the ability to take the perfect lyrics and fit them with the perfect melody to create or inspire the perfect feeling in all of us. Wilco music doesn't tell a story, it tells a feeling and it makes the fe
  21. Hello Friends. Just curious if anyone had the of jeff playing that guitar and the neck of the guitar says WILCO in white on the fretboard? I think someone has even used it on this board. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, for the sake of discussion, what music are you listening to lately? Thanks in advance
  22. And my very favourite lines: "Open your arms as far as they will go Take off your dress An embarrassing poem Was written when I was alone In love with you" that is also my favorite. That and... "On and On and On we'll be together yeah. On and on and on, on and on and on we're going to try."
  23. Oh man, what about "On and On and On" everytime I hear it I am this " close to tears. "On and on and on, we'll be together yeah. On and on and on, on and on and on we're going to try" Everytime it gets me.
  24. I love the version of Too Far Apart they've been playing recently and on ACL. Does anyone know where I could get a mp3 of it? It really brings out the beauty of the song, more than the original. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
