  1. I actually have weekend away plans the night they are playing in New Haven. Ooh. Conflicted.
  2. A friend of mine the other day was lamenting that her husband bought a painting (a beautiful one!) when what they really need is a new couch. I told her that I have never regretted a dime I have spent on travel or art, but there are plenty of regrettable couches out there.
  3. Yes, confirmation is important so that I can get on the Chicago Democratic Party fundraising committee.
  4. I'll second that vote for The Pines! No better outdoor venue on the east coast. I'll see bands I don't even like there.
  5. I put these up on the other Dublin thread, but realized this was more appropriate. Sorry it took so long. http://www.flickr.com/photos/skigirl2005/
  6. hi all, sorry this took a while, but here are some new photos. http://www.flickr.com/photos/skigirl2005/
  7. Wow, I'm not sure how they are going to top that one tonight; although Via Chicago and Theologians might get them there. Cool little venue too, it was the first time I had seen them indoors this year. The sound was great, although where I was standing near the end they were all playing so loud I couldn't hear vocals. Not much to complain about, I usually complain it's not loud enough. I got a little chuckle out of Jeff speculating if the flag meant Wilco has sweaty pits. Hope a recording was made!!!
  8. The fact that I'm flying overseas to see a band that I've already seen 3 times this summer is a testament to how they are playing this year. I'm not concerned about the set list either night AT ALL because every song I've heard this year has been AWESOME! That said, if they play a mellow set the first night (When I am standing), then a rocking set the next (when I have seats), I'll feel like I did everything backward. You folks who haven't seen them play recently (or at all!) are in for a real treat!
  9. Thanks for the info! I'm lukewarm on U2, but I'd stick around if they showed up. Not because I think they're so great, but because I get so starstruck. I once saw John Travolta in Boston and walked around beaming for a week. This was right after Pulp Fiction too! Is there always an opener at Vicar Street shows? I'm sorry to say the 2 openers I've seen for Wilco this year have underwhelmed me. So I hope it is someone great.
  10. Actually, I got tickets for thursday a few weeks ago went I went on ticketmaster on a lark. I'm confused about the venue, though. for Wednesday I have "standing" tickets. Does that mean floor? And if so, does that mean they take away the tables? For Thursday I have balcony tickets. Does that mean there are seats up there? I really prefer to be on the floor though, so I hope i can trade with someone, or are they liberal about that since the floor is standing anyway? Where is a good place to go before nearby for a bite and a beer? Is anything open late if we want to eat after?
  11. It's not. It's the money they won't get back from things like nonrefundable travel arrangements, accomodations and "service" charges. That's money fans worked for, won't get back, and with little to no explanation or contrition on the part of the band or management.
  12. It's amazing to me that there hasn't been some sort of explaination on the band's website. People have made all sorts of plans, this may be costing them money for travel expenses, etc. Considering how quickly they explained cancelled shows due to Nels Cline's illness, there really should be some sort of something coming from the band. Once that had been given as the reason for cancelling shows, I think people forgave them rather quickly and moved on. I hope this thread stays active to let management know that fans deserve better than to be left in the dark. They read this, right?
  13. Oddly, I was able to buy supposedly sold out thursday tickets in Dublin off of Ticketmaster last week. This will be a really long trip if its only for a couple pints of Guiness. Horrible, sinking feeling here.
  14. Although I had to travel some, I'm pretty thankful I got to see them as much as I did this year. I was wondering how they tour so much and what kind of impact that has on their families.
  15. My husband and I just made our arrangements! No problems getting tickets for wednesday, still looking for Thursday. Truly our year for Wilco. Northampton, Burlington, Berkeley and now Dublin. Is anyone here going? Would love to meet up for a pint (or 2!) before the show(s)!
  16. Seeking 2 tickets for the Thursday night show. Will be happy to pay face and postage. Or, if you would prefer to meet in person, we will not be in Dublin until Nov. 14, so we will have to arrange for exchange on that day. Will pay in cash in that case and will happily buy you a pint.
