C+F was easily a top 5 song of 2005 for me... great record
-
me too. still waiting for him to get his ass up here. he cancelled his last gig here to tour w/ Spoon.

this comment on Stereogum is so damn funny (and true): i love BOH, but still, too funny
-
haha, nah, i don't have that many vacation days either (i just started my current job back in April) but yeah, hopefully he comes here again. i've seen him twice in the last year and both were fantastic. i'm missing Rilo & Devendra in Mpls for Monolith, oh well

well, i can't quite match you, but:

still not nearly as into this one as the first, but it's got some killer tracks saw them on Tuesday night here, really good show. wasn't quite as impressed as the first time i saw them in Barcelona, but the crowd was a lot more into the show then too...

it is super annoying. now i take photos at certain shows, but 1) i never use flash 2) i actually know what i'm doing somewhat and am not just gonna get horrible photos or grainy camera phone shit either. 3) don't do it ALL FUCKING SHOW

Ben's a total smartass and goofball, far from an asshole...
-
man i'm in love w/ this record
-
my friend Steve wasn't all that impressed with that show: http://www.reveillemag.com/reviews/concert...errace-07-13-07

guitar playing styles, not musical styles
-
now that much, i think may have been a Lost Highway decision... my reasoning behind it is, the vinyl is credited as "Ryan Adams and the Cardinals"...
-
too bad he ruined this version

yes it's spam, deal with it anywho, along with a bunch of the Twin Cities best music writers (ie: not me), we started a brand new online music magazine called Reveille Magazine. it launched on Monday and thought i'd share it with you guys as well. http://www.reveillemag.com/ i put the site together (although the fantastic header graphic was Steve McPherson's handy work) and will be maintaining it as well as writing news articles and the occasional column/feature/review. and, if you live in the Twin Cities, come out to our kickoff party on Saturday night at the Nomad: and be our f

also, i don't buy that BS about him writing the album to appease the label, cuz he's spoken at LENGTH numerous times about this being the MOST collaborative album he's ever worked on with a group in the studio, even including Whiskeytown...
-
all of the songs on Easy Tiger are actually quiet short by Ryan's standards... but anywho, it's prolly my 4th fave of his solo records honestly...

now, while i don't see the comparison, in terms of talent and "all-time greats", i wouldn't argue w/ you comparing him to Rick at all well, excuse me, their first record came out in '99, i was just basing it off that. other than maybe a FEW people who lived in Detroit then, nobody on here knew who Jack White was in 1997, sorry, and most didn't until 'White Blood Cells' in 2001 (very few people know of them even after De Stijl, trust me. i would not have been able to see them play a 200 capacity venue in '00 if it wasn't the case) and later, so the average person's time spent w/ Jack's guita

seeing them twice on Sunday & Monday at the MN Zoo w/ Ben Kweller
-
nobody said he wasn't fantastic
-
3 songs in and this is already better than Both Sides of the Gun... nothing particularly too exciting or killer yet, but definitely pleasant... edit: spoke to soon, Needed You Tonight is fucking sick... reminds me of Show Me A Little Shame a bit
-
hilarious.

i like his tone a lot of the times (though not the high pitched squelch-y stuff like on the last 2 records), but i guess as someone who has played 18 years myself, i don't think he's THAT "amazing" honestly... definitely one of the best guitarists of the 2000's, no doubt, but if he was playing music back in the 60's & 70's his playing wouldn't stand out nearly as much as it does these days, i don't think many people would argue with me on that. which isn't necessarily a diss on Jack as much as it is a diss on the lack of focus on musicianship among todays indie bands for the most part.

sounds incredible! as for Jack being one of the "best guitarists of all time"... sorry, but , he's great compared to most of the crapass indie rock guitarists these days though, that's for sure.
