  1. actually Intervention was better than ANY of the warmup show performances of it (especially any of the 3 NYC ones i saw), but Win's vocal was a bit low at first. i thought they were mighty fine on KTCR too actually...
  2. at this point, you either kinda get them or you don't if you see them live and don't find the show moving, then you're not gonna dig this band, that much i can guarantee. and there's PLENTY of amazing harmonies on both records...
  3. http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php suggest it as a feature
  4. honestly, that was one of the weaker Tapes sets i've seen in the last few years... the sound was awful where i was sitting (Josh's guitar amp was buzzing really badly and Erik's bass amp was crackling) and they were noticeably rusty. their set at First Ave at the end of December was absolutely incredible though. but yes, Chuck was awesome, and while i like Mary, sometimes she def can be annoying, for sure.
  5. the first one is worth listening to for "Knuckles" alone
  6. i quite like the cover myself... it's WAAAAAAY better than the cover for the last record:
  7. better. not that this new one is bad by ANY means, but i think i like all of their previous ones, minus the S/T, and possibly Goodbye Enemy Airship, better. but like i said, Rust is certainly very very good. Winter Hymn Country Hymn Secret Hymn is definitely my fave of theirs. prolly gonna see them on Mon
  8. new song is a bit too Devo-ish for my taste so yeah, hope the record is a lot better
  9. if Jenny Lewis flashed her tits at a Rilo Kiley show, would i expect Pitchfork to post super hi-res photos of it? no. would i expect it to be on any male-authored music-related blog on the internet? pretty much that's the difference here leave that shit to the blogs i say
  10. Pitchfork totally has the right to post them, no question there, but it only goes to further their lack of class, tact, and professionalism in my eyes. It's a fine site, but it could be so much more
  11. but i would have likely done the same (heck, i already called in sick for the first half of the AM)
  12. the first one is still my favorite, but the new one is up there as well. check out Lifter Puller, they're just as good (albeit not as polished)
  13. the fact that he was naked on stage doesn't surprise me... the fake that someone took photos of it doesn't surprise me... but why on earth would Pitchfork post them??
  14. The Stooges - The Weirdness this is just fucking AWFUL... i mean i'm forcing myself to finish it at this point
  15. my review of the last 3 nights: http://www.morecowbell.net/2007/02/22/arca...emorial-church/
  16. i didn't really pay much attention to them the few times i listened to West a few weeks ago when it leaked, but the song came on the radio yesterday while i was in my car, and i was just cringing at pretty much every other lyric
  17. his voice has always reminded me of a cross between Elvis and Bragg oh i know, i was just clarifying that, in the grand scheme of this year so far is all i just miss the rock and electric geetar... this record isn't nearly as rockin' as i'd hoped for (certainly is in spots though).
  18. the lyrics are just super super lame, and that totally out of place recorder solo??? it's a good record, but hardly one of the best records so far this year is all. solid 7.5 or so.
  19. good lord the lyrics to "What If" are some of the worst lyrics i've heard in years... and i LOVE Lu...
  20. yeah... he could lop off like 3-4 songs at least (i'd start w/ Bottle of Buckie myself) i dig it, but certainly not up to the level of Tyranny or Oak for me, can't decide if i like it as much or less than Sheets yet, too early.
  21. listen more closely, there's a lot more changes than you're giving it credit for (the huge ass Czech orchestra/horn section for one). the band recorded 19-20 songs for this record, so it's not like they didn't have their pick. they realize it's one of their strongest songs in it's newer arrangement. Regine commented recently on the re-recorded version, saying that this is what they'd always envisioned the song to sound like, but didn't have the resources or money to do so when they recorded the EP in 2002. also, while some (and it's a pretty small minority) may not like it as much, or find i
