Sunrise in my backyard this morning
solace replied to IRememberDBoon's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
uhm... i wouldn't exactly talk if i was you bub -
as much as i like this, there are better audience/sbd/FM recordings, at least in terms of performances anyway.
-
i can certainly applaude the change in sound, but the songs themselves just aren't very good. i think there's maybe 2 or 3 memorable choruses on the whole record.
-
^^ i really disliked their record from this year save for a few songs (my fave and the only one of theirs i love all the way through is the first one), but it's not bad. their Subterranean cover isn't that great tho
-
that makes even more sense Ryan
-
i'd say this new one flows better and is a more well rounded record, but it lacks a total killer center piece song like the last two had (Empty Page on Murray and Unmade Bed on Nurse). Turquoise Boy, Incinerate and Rapture are prolly the closest.
-
it is really good, but if you haven't heard their last two, Sonic Nurse or Murray Street, do so, because they both are just a bit better. all 3 are wicked tho
-
Picaresque had plenty of great songs, but just didn't work as an album for me. after the previous 2 it was a let down.
-
it really is. i was not expecting much after the last and was not only surprised/impressed, but blown away by a few tracks.
-
so... in the last 5-6 days, Bill Nguyen, the founder of lala.com and many other succesful internet startups (he sold Seven Networks for $850 mill), has come forward on the woxy.com forum with an interest to purchase WOXY and get it back online. he has a lot of big ideas in the pipe. anywho, he flew to Cinci tonight and met w/ the existing WOXY staff, and if all goes as planned woxy will be back streaming online in around 2 weeks...

judging from some info i heard today regarding another show, i'd say that a solo show on 10/31 at the Riverside is pretty credible
-
Control is his best record under the PTL name i think LOVE that record... really great lyrics Indian Summer
-
sick. can't wait to hear that recording.
-
they're not bad lot more punk
-
also picked up the 10" of Westy's songs (has some unreleased tracks) on Friday, it's super mega k-rad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
re: new Lemonheads it really is pretty damn good i must admit. Become The Enemy is one of my fave recent songs. No Backbone is great too. i just bought a ticket to see 'em at a pretty small club here in December, i sure hope Evan is clean enough to put on a good show. last time i saw him w/ MC5 he was a wreck. NP: Feast of Wire
-
this is already better than Burn The Maps can't believe People Get Ready didn't make that album, but maybe it's better off
-
just finished... it tails off near the end and shoulda been cut down by about 3-4 tracks, but def a very solid and much more focused sounding record. nice return for him for me. guero suffered from sounding like a mix tape and having no real cohesive flow.
-
and see? Thickfreakness is my least fave of theirs. still pretty great but yeah... my faves are Big Come Up (first i'd heard, so prolly biased there too) and Rubber Factory
-
haven't listened yet, but wouldn't take much edit: on track 3, liking it so far
-
it is pretty sweet innit? hoping to see them here soon

Neil Young Opens Archives For Fillmore CD/DVD
solace replied to Analogman's topic in Someone Else's Song
correct. Neil talked about that version in an article recently as for the Archives going piece by piece, i don't think it's gonna happen that way, i think he decided to release this live show seperate from Vol 1, for what reason i don't know. -
well that's good at least. it's my #3 or #4 song on the record i think, but still rules ass. 8x better? hmm... Sunlandic had some wicked tunes, but i agree it wasn't that great compared to Satatnic. new one has yet to hit me but i do like it a good deal so far. i can only listne to them every so often.
