yup, he's def on a few songs. and i dunno what "gunpowder eyes" are, but the way Neko sings it, i'd like to find out
-
i *DO* like it, it's just not blowing me away like the last 2 did on first listen right out of the gate... i really do hope i come around on it and wind up loving it to death, cuz Neko is my fave female singer/songwriter post '00, much like M. Ward is the male (or overall) counterpart.

i dig the title track, but not a favorite on the album for me by ANY means honestly... production is def lovely tho. i liked Matt's solo acoustic version last night on NPR quite a bit more. Save Me & Fisher of Men are def my faves, with Jailbird, Rave On, and Never Had Nobody close behind.

i wouldn't say it's either yet... it's definitely got a couple very very good songs, but other than 1-2 exceptions, all of the songs have a very similiar tone, style, and tempo, which i think is my biggest problem getting into it fully. there's also not a total knockout ala Star Witness or Deep Red Bells for me just yet (both of those songs kicked my ass on first listen fwiw.)
-
oh god, that's one of the worst songs on the album... but wouldn't surprise me if they did it
-
noooo, i've loved all but one of his post '00 albums, just saying never know when it may be his last album/tour
-
lemme watch again, he was the most recognizable to me last night edit: yup! that's her... i don't think the other girl is from the band though... bass player maybe:
-
how they didn't pick 'Magnificent' as the first single is beyond me... retarded business decision really. it BETTER be the second single at least... my guesses: 2nd: Magnificent 3rd: Moment of Surrender 4th: Breathe (maybe a shorter edit?, this is a stretch that the album has 4 single worthy tracks)

the tall long haired guy was from Oakley Hall
-
in his case, this is true... i'm at the same point with Neil Young now too
-
he's already scored it a 2/10 and easily Dylan's worst album since Infidels but i'm with you Matt on MT... i loved that one for what it was too, but hoping for a change of pace from the last 2-3

WOAAAAAAH!

i guess often i just feel like she's got a great story started, or a great chorus built-up, and then bam... it ends. but that feels like the case more often than not on this album for me, previously it didn't really bother me enough to complain i guess. i love short songs, esp short pop songs, but when your music is pretty mellow and slower, sometimes 2-2.5 minutes doesn't really give you much time i guess. re: Star Witness... that's one (if not) her best songs ever, and I think in that case the length helps it for me... this album is def a much mellower and slower affair, that much isn'

it's not the first time i've been a little bummed by the length of some of her songs, but the ones that are under 2 minutes or just barely over seem to be almost a cocktease on here
-
yeah, i do like the song regardless
-
right... but after a certain point you become a realist and understand that the odds are not very likely... i'm not saying it could NEVER happen necessarily...
-
yeah that works too

Pearl Jam were for a large stage in my life up to this point ('91-98) my favorite band... they haven't released a great album in a decade (Yield), and i don't really ever expect them to release anything again that holds up to their run from Ten through Yield, but i'm still a fan of the band (granted mostly due to their live show at this point). until they start putting out albums that I find just horrendous, i'll still always be curious at what they have to say, and I'd say i'm at that same point with U2 (even though i've been there since the 90's with them) along with REM, etc.

no, i like it a lot too
-
exactly. meaning it's not cringeworthy for me like much of the last 2 were. and I actually might shell out some cash to see them again on this upcoming tour (depends on the pricing/venues i guess), which I didn't do the last time around as a result.
-
last i checked, 6.5-7/10 *IS* above average (5/10)... that's a 3-3.5/5 star rating... the last two i'd certainly put closer to average or below, no question (esp Atomic Bomb) the last album of theirs i'd score above an 8/10 would be Achtung, 18 years ago. i'd certainly put Zooropa and Pop ahead of No Line at this point (time will tell i guess, but i'm thinking no)
-
i still say the guitar playing on that song is straight out of a John Mayer composition...
-
Crazy Tonight is def my least fave on here other than Boots... while i like this more than their last 2, i'd still say it's no better than a 6.5-7/10 record, which i guess at this stage in their career should be considered a huge success.
