  1. who knew a small: "lol" could be so offensive??? i honestly did laugh out loud at his post, no matter the reason
  2. hey, i know i'm often a smartass, i don't try and hide it
  3. woah... no way it was that yelp-y
  4. fair enough, i can certainly understand that. plus i know tons of folks who just have an aversion to female singer/songwriter type stuff in general. i'll admit it takes something special to stand out in that genre for me too, but a few of her songs are pretty great. if i wasn't already familiar w/ her going into the show I dunno if i'd have cared either
  5. huh... you guys have better coffee shop singer/songwriters than us I guess not saying she's the best thing i've ever heard, but I can definitely see why she's getting good reviews of her records
  6. really? she was LOVELY in Minneapolis... White As Diamonds is one of my fave songs so far this year honestly. her set was mellow, sure, but gorgeous vocals and nice understated backing band.
  7. the lol. was at your handle + post (and the fact that anyone in 2009 would honestly use the words "Fearless. Exciting. Pushing the envelope." to describe a new U2 album) it just seemed like a troll from some U2 fanboy site is all, sorry. no offense meant at all, but nice try Azzurri and yes, i'm a pretty big U2 fan... granted i rate their 80's output (besides Achtung) quite a bit higher than anything else.
  8. my vinyl pre-order came yesterday... poster wasn't signed either. i'm pretty sure it was just a random few, because it was never advertised as coming with an auto-graphed poster that I recall the vinyl is indeed gorgeous
  9. i was JUST going to post a full thread on this terrible pick for a Steve Earle track, but otherwise can't wait to buy it
  10. yeah, it's slowly sinking it's claws in with me as well. but your'e SO right... the problem with very consistent albums, is that the songs don't distinguish themselves from the next is as you said. so maybe more consistent than the last 2 albums (although i don't agree with that just yet), but certainly not the highs of either for me. at this point there's no song on here yet that i love as much as Star Witness, Deep Red Bells, Outro With Bees, Hold On Hold On, Tightly, Look For Me, I Wish I Was The Moon, John Saw That Number, or Maybe Sparrow. it's def going to be a late night/chill out l

  12. good to hear the Chicago show was good... Minneapolis on Wed was TERRIBLE. crowd was sedate and lame, band lacked a ton of energy compared to past shows i've seen, and they did not seem up to the task of playing @ a big venue like First Avenue yet. http://www.culturebully.com/blitzen-trappe...enue-02-18-2009 after seeing 2 bad shows out of 5 now, i've realized they're a hit or miss live band unfortunately.
  13. edit: fuck it, i don't have the time to waste.
  14. Margaret Vs. Pauline is amazing... as are John Saw That Number, Maybe Sparrow and Hold On, Hold On. edit: Teenage Feeling too
  15. 3/10 but it just leaked a few hours ago
  16. Yo La Tengo garage recordings of a bunch of awesome covers = WINNER their cover of The Troggs 'With A Girl Like You' (one of my fave songs ever) is so rad i swear this is just a 2 channel live recording...
  17. agreed. i'm hoping this is better than the S/T though... even though i liked that more than Cassadaga. the live show was a lot better, and they played a few new songs, so i think it will be.
  18. yup. i love the new one, even w/ the larger production. but you're right, not my favorite of his.
  19. yup, just Mark & Gary and for Mpls, i don't believe there is any opener
  20. i tried to listen to it at work and realized my problem with it at this point... it's kind of a sleepy album... maybe i need to listen more late at night, that helped with April
