The Vampire Weekend album is ok. I caught their first song on SNL and thought they sounded flat (not musically...but lacking energy). I also thought the same thing about Wilco and (especially) Spoon, so maybe it's just an SNL thing. Spoon in particular were dissapointing. I really dig that "Cherry Bomb" tune, and it sounded totally lifeless and bland on SNL.

You've just summed up my experience too. I don't know of anyplace in NOVA right now. Strangeland Records is a punk/metal/industrial shop in Annandale, but they've either closed or are about to close. Orpheus in Clarendon shut down recently as well. In the Fairfax area, it's been almost 10 years since the last small indie shop shut down (Record Convergance). To be honest, I miss being able to browse through a store but you can find pretty much everything you'd ever want on-line for much better prices. Starting up a small record shop now seems like a great way to lose a lot of money, so I

I'm older than the house (but the house is older than my wife). We've got a brass bed that I'm pretty sure was my mom's when she was a kid, and a couple of really old fashioned wooden schooldesk things that are early/mid 1900's. -
