  1. I'm pretty sure that's what the residency shows would sound like, if I ever bothered to unzip the files I downloaded. To answer your original question though, no...not appropriate. No one should ever make music that sounds like that. Ever. They should, however, cover The Nils' song, "Fountains", during every show.
  2. I've talked to skyflynn on the phone, that motherfucker...
  3. Is there any way someone could dub these onto Maxell cassettes for me?
  4. I was gonna throw Renaissance Man in there too, but I hate misspelling big words (I'd hate to look foolish).
  5. I consider myself a pretty well-versed guy, musically speaking, but I don't recognize the title of that song. Is it by Steely Dan?
  6. You're probably one of them, aren't you? You probably wear a monocle.
  7. I kinda figured at the end of the episode we'd find out that the kid was Aaron, and I was waiting for Kate to say Aaron in that last scene, and it still sounded like Eric to me when she said it.
  8. I'll be paying for the new turbo for my piece of crap Jetta (thanks a lot, Wilco), and buying a couple of guitar pedals. The rest goes into the bank...
  9. I watched it on the couch, awake for about 10 minutes and asleep for the rest. It was a GREAT nap. You're an old fan. P.S. I was saying nice things about Mr. Bennett today while talking to caliber.
  10. Anyone know how to say "bro" in German? caliber??
  11. The venue holds more people than have purchased advance tickets?
  12. Here's a quick test. Which do you prefer: - Bob Stinson - Nels Cline ?
  13. If Wilco fans were bands, old fans would be The Replacements and new fans would be Steely Dan. If Wilco fans were items on a menu, old fans would be a pitcher of cold beer and a basket of fish and chips, while new fans would be a bottle of some microbrew cider and a plate of Ethiopian food.
  14. This would have made a great first post in an "Enjoy ction's thread about enjoying Wilco on HIS terms on MY terms" thread. Bobbleheads are funny - you should have no buyer's remorse. In theory, I could even see myself buying a Steely Dan bobblehead collection under the right conditions - and they are one of the shittiest bands of all time. Of course, spending that money on a pitcher of beer and some fried food would not have been a bad idea either. Positively dreadful response on your part, good fellow.
  15. I recently downloaded the 7th Wilco DVD project disc, which had a Being There-era tv show with Roger McGuinn and a Summerteeth-era tv show on it. Both of these appearances were AMAZING. That's the band I like, not the Wilco that's apparently going through medical school right now to the delight of hundreds. On a semi-related note, I also really like The Replacements and think Steely Dan are boring and crappy. P.S. I did download mp3s of some of the recent shows some kind soul posted the other day, but I've honestly been too lazy to unzip the files. I'll probably delete them without ever
  16. Photos of her junk appeared on an on-line gossip blog type thing last year, and the area was masterfully described as looking like it had been punched repeatedly by a boxing kangaroo. Which made me laugh.
  17. I don't know that these guys belong in a group with the rest of the bands you mentioned, but they sure were awesome. Rick Froberg and John Reis should have an active band together at all times. P.S. Pitchfork were also rad.
  18. What does alternative sound like, exactly?
  19. I don't get the flu often - the last time was probably 3 years ago, and before that it was all the way back in 1983 or '84 . For the most recent bout, I tried to drink a lot of water, but mostly I just wimpered like a small, lost child and occassionally cried out for someone to shoot me in the head.
  20. I recently got one of these. I actually paid extra to get the upgraded version with the Alnico Blue speakers...my thinking being that I hadn't really spent any money on an amp since 1987-ish, so what the hell. It sounds pretty great, and I'm sure it would sound even better with someone who can actually play.
