  1. If that's wrong, I guess I need to rethink my parenting style.

"Sweet Talkin' Woman" is a good song.
  3. Think of GnR as glam like the New York Dolls vs. glam as, say, like Motley Crue or something. Slash and Izzy seemed to model a lot of their stuff off Johnny Thunders and the like (I'm not familiar with Hanoi Rocks other than knowing Vince Neil kinda killed their drummer that one time, so I can't really talk about their influence).
  4. C'mon, after Pyromania Def Leppard was barely even a rock band anymore.
  5. They were pretty influenced, especially in the beginning, by the New York Dolls.
  6. I didn't pay attention to the credits so I can't confirm this, but apparently the guy in the diner who went to the can near the end was listed as "Nick Leotardo". Of course, I read this info on the internet, which means there's at least a 50% chance it is total horseshit.
  7. That is my thought when reading some of the criticism.
  8. There's some punk thrown in there too. At the time, I hated the first Poison album because I listened to punk rock and real metal and was kind of a douche about stuff not being cool enough for me to like. Eventually though I was won over by "Talk Dirty to Me", which is just a really good, fun song. I think I only really like that tune and "Cry Tough" though.
  9. I'm pretty sure the description was made with tongue firmly planted in cheek (at least that's how I took it, and why I like it). But I do think there is a grain of truth to this kind of statement, certainly among a percentage of fans: Only I'd substitute "people" for rich suburbanites. Because there are plenty of people attracted to alt country stuff who would never otherwise check out music with twang. It might be a small percentage, I have no idea, but its there.
  10. Curt Schilling is to Jason Varitek as Calexico is to _____________.
  11. Ahem...getting back on topic, when I was a kid and I thought I'd end up getting a job where I'd have to wear a suit, I imagined myself wearing a red suit/black t-shirt combo like Huey. In addition to thinking this would be acceptable business attire, I was also pretty sure that look would score me mad tail.
  12. We're going to call you the exception that proves the rule. Or something.
  13. Ok, fine, I'll admit it. Yes, I'm curious to see Huey's mule and am considering adding that film to my Netflix queue.
  14. Someone once described alt-country as country music performed by and for Democrats. Which I think is the best description I've heard.
  15. I'd rather be sober than get drunk on dehydrated sissy drinks.
  16. When addressing me in the future, please refer to me as the Embassador of Kickyourassador.
  17. They are "country and midwestern". I know you know this, dude.
  18. Little known fact...the band Ray Parker had to add the "Jr." to their name because a 60's psychadelic band by the same name threatened to sue. And that is your Rock n Roll Fact of the Day.
