Favorite bands with dual Lead Guitar Players
PopTodd replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
Yeah, I should have included them in my first post. Definitely. Love Maiden. -
A really hard task here. Although my #1 is easy: • Rocks Off the rest (in no real order): • She's a Rainbow • Monkey Man • Gimmie Shelter • Happy • Shine a Light • Street Fighting Man and 3 more that probably also come from Exile.

Don't know. Don't really know anything by the band except what I've heard on the radio. I called in for the theater tix. The CD was just a bonus, but I'm looking forward to hearing it.

Another couple of great male/female choices: Yo La Tengo Eleventh Dream Day Papas Fritas

I think that this one might be a little more challenging than the dual singer one. At least once we get past the obvious ones. Television Thin Lizzy Judas Priest Rolling Stones (yeah, Keef plays some leads, too.) XTC (ditto for Andy... no slouch)

And this morning I won theater tickets and a copy of The Best of The English Beat.

Ditto. Ditto.

Bands you discovered by accident or as openers

Uncle Tupelo (opening for fIREHOSE) -- Halloween 1989. The show that changed my life. The Pogues (opening for Violent Femmes) Mojo Nixon & Skid Roeper (also opening for Violent Femmes at the same show) Pulp (opening for Blur) Drivin' n' Cryin' (opening for Living Colour) Ricky Skaggs (on the bill at The Grand Ole Opry) Dan Penn & Spooner Oldham (opening for Nick Lowe) -- a total shocker that I went to see one of my all-time favorites and realized that an American treasure was the opening act. And I had no idea who he was until he started singing all these classic songs that he had writ -
In a damn good year, this one might just be the best of the bunch. Songs from some of the best around—Robyn Hitchcock, Andrew Bird, Catherin Irwin, Stephen Merritt, M. Ward... And a band that includes some genuine heavyweights, including Booker T. Jones on keys. Seriously flippin' great. (I thought that I posted about this already, but couldn't find the thread. So, sorry if this is a repeat.)

They both play rhythm and lead at any given time. And I totally agree. The title track from "Marquee Moon" blows my mind with the guitar interplay on there.

awwww, you!

Listening to this one on headphones now and... holy shit!
-
In order: Keith Richards Pete Townshend Joe Strummer Steve Cropper BUT... unconventionally: Jimi Hendrix He played rhythm and lead simultaneously, remember. "Crosstown Traffic" and "Little Wing" are perfect examples.

Ask 5 different people about the Go-Betweens, get 7 different answers. I think that's a good sign! For me today:

Top Three Uncle Tupelo Songs you want to hear in a Wilco set

Obviously, I have to limit myself to the Jeff songs. So, that said: Gun Acuff-Rose Watch Me Fall -
This is what blaphemy looks like in the modern age

Bjorn: No need for the perspective. I have it and was just being overdramatic on a message board. I get it though, you expected to see something truly, genuinely horrifying and you just saw something trivial. Again, it's a message board. Sorry if I offended you with my hyperbole.
