  1. Metallica. One of those bands that I have no idea why I ever liked them in the first place.
  2. Neutral Milk Hotel -- 99% I think that there is one or two songs from an EP that they put out before their first album that I have a hard time listening to. Other than that: perfection.
  3. You're in Columbia?!? Where was the festival? I went to Mizzou and haven't been back since 91. Really want to get back down there.
  4. Reminds me a bit of Daniel Johnston, actually. And I don't mean that as an insult (I am a fan), there is just something about it -- an amateurishness -- that reminds me of DJ. But I like it. Oh, and something in his voice sounds to me like he's drinking again. Hopefully that's just an affectation. EDIT: And I brought 14 Songs with me to work today, before seeing this thread at all. Must be a Westerbergian kinda feel in the air or something.
  5. Honestly, I was a little disappointed in Undeclared. I mean, it was a very good show, but I expected more after Freaks & Geeks. As good as it was (and it was very good), it didn't hold a candle to the first series.
  6. I've played shows with him before and he is a remarkable songwriter. Tells a story with the best of 'em.
  7. Guess that I am kinda bragging in here, but I was at Wilco's first-ever Chicago show (maybe their second-ever show). T'was a late show at Lounge Ax in 1994 and it was my SECOND show of the evening. (I ran over to LAx from the Vic where I had just seen Pegboy destroy the place.) I was a huge UT fan and heard from folks in the crowd that "Jeff Tweedy is playing with his new band." First half of the show was Jeff, solo/acoustic and then he brought up the rest of the guys with: "I'd like to introduce you to my new band, Wilco." So, you Chicago people: any of you folks there too? I'm guessing tha
  8. Request "The Itsy-Bitsy Spider" just to see what they do.
  9. They're just guys who are lucky as hell to be doing what they love to do for a living. Just so happens that their job makes their faces recognizable to those who appreciate it. Never met Wilco, but I've met enough movie and music folks to know. But sometimes, with some folks, you can get starstruck anyway. No matter how much you know the above.
  10. We Jam Econo is great. Watt is the kind of guy that I think that I would love to hang out with. For a couple of hours. But then I think that he might get to be a little much, maybe. Seems like a great guy, though.
  11. Pardon my self, but I wrote and recorded this song specifically to be listened to on headphones: http://hoponpop.bandcamp.com/track/hey Especially the drum arrangement. Mods: delete post if you see this as self-promotional. With my apologies.
  12. Not the best show ever, but the best final episode ever: Newhart I laughed my ass off at that final scene. Literally screamed in my living room when the lights went on in the bedroom and there were Suzanne Plachette and Bob lying in bed together on the old set. Holy shit. "Go back to sleep, Bob."

  14. Took a little detour to this beautiful little electronic/folk gem: Whilst syncing my wife's iPod. It's very cinematic. Sounds like soundtrack music. Electronic with acoustic and folk elements. Beautiful, really. The artist's own description is pretty apt. From the Bandcamp page:
  15. Read that article, Louie. Good article. Now, did he tour with the Femmes in '86 or was it more like a "coming soon" thing, where he had his name on the Aragon marquee with them? Anyone know?
  16. No this was from AllMusic.com. Didn't see the Trib today.
  17. Anyone get this/hear this yet? Sounds like another excellent 2012 release. Guess I'll have to get it. Color me intrigued.
  18. Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet Jane's Addiction - Nothing's Shocking Jane's Addiction - Ritual de lo Habitual Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique
